Granted, I haven't seen the film so I can't comment on how the novel's been adapted, but since the novel came out before the first Twilight novel was published, it's hard to say it came as an aftershock. I think my problem with this show is that I still don't really know the main cast at all. For a show so young it strongly relies on guest stars that take up a majority of screen time and offer little character building for others. It also doesn't help the main cast keeps changing.
