Granted, I haven't seen the film so I can't comment on how the novel's been adapted, but since the novel came out before the first Twilight novel was published, it's hard to say it came as an aftershock. I'm hoping the film doesn't borrow Twilight elements, because it is an interesting novel all its own.

I think my problem with this show is that I still don't really know the main cast at all. For a show so young it strongly relies on guest stars that take up a majority of screen time and offer little character building for others. It also doesn't help the main cast keeps changing.
