he has the attention because he released one of the best/biggest party records of the last year. 
and he's kept it because he just released a debut that lives up to the hype that he's built up. I realize trap music isn't for everyone but as far as the genre goes he's cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with.

please don't sugarcoat: this was the most depressing 24 minutes of tv I've seen in a long long while. Can't tell yet if it's a B+ or a solid F.

The Drug Song remix and The Fox Hunt were two of my favorites throwaways of the last year…so glad that @avclub-8f14e45fceea167a5a36dedd4bea2543:disqus pursued an interview.

well one of those two is a gay man from the most hyped collective in LA, the other is a nerdy kid from DC. One is obviously going to draw a little more attention and acclaim (not to say that Channel Orange isn't great, it's definitely on my top 25 list for the year).

1999 was halfway great and halfway filler. "Waves" was definitely one of the best hip-hop songs of 2012.
