Just another typical night on the British high street. I walked right through the middle of a massive brawl on Friday night in which, bizarrely enough, people were turning up in cabs, getting out and piling straight in to the fight. They were also mainly girls.

The two have traditionally existed side by side, with the highly trained and highly skilled librarians being the higher earners. But it's the same here in the UK the days of the librarians, in public libraries at least, seem to be numbered.

I can believe it. Libraries very much in the cross hairs once again in this coming round of cuts.

Amen to that! In the library I work in it's very much a culture of middle management justifying their existence by making up ridiculous new directives which all take away from the time we need to do our jobs properly. More work less pay and not enough people in the union to make it an effective force in protecting
