Pig In The City is one of the most magnificently batshit movies I've ever taken my children to see. Having said that I think they're both pretty wonderful films.
I think I'm in a very small minority (basically my Mum and me) who thought that Maps To The Stars was actually a rather excellent piece of work.
This very much mirrors my own experience with that film. Also parts of it were filmed in my local hospital where both my partner and eldest daughter work.
I thought I'd never forgive Garland for the epic hackery of The Beach but his screen adaptation of Never Let Me Go was, I thought, pretty bloody good.
A very happy birthday to you and congratulations on the Villa staying up, rarely can a 6-1 thrashing have felt that good (like never).
'Do you know the importance of a sky pagER!'
that was only on the cd version of the album so I didn't hear it until later but, yeah, that dates it and the same for The Notorious B.I.G's Juicy with its 'Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis' line.
I think you're right, and when people try to recreate it (the terrible God's Pocket being a recent example that springs to mind) it generally looks a bit laboured and rubbish.
I love those super, super hard boiled late 60's-early seventies movies like The Friends Of Eddie Coyle, The Outfit, Prime Cut, Electra Glide In Blue, Charley Varrick and all of those films that my late Dad used to let me view even though I was far to young to watch them. Something about the film stock and the sweaty…
That Tropicalia stuff still sounds amazing, Rita Lee and Gal Costa from that period is incredible. But have you ever heard the latin American Sgt. Peppers? I'm talking about the Los Shaker's classic La Conferencia Secreta Del Toto's Bar, it's a great and funny album.

Perhaps the Minutemen’s fate would’ve been different if Boon hadn’t been killed in a van accident in December of 1985.
D'ya thinkso?
But, snark aside, a really great article and a fucking great band. I got to see fIREHOSE who I also love but was just that bit to young to see the Minutemen. Their positive energy comes…
One day I'm going to go to Niki De Saint Phalle's Tarot Garden and get tactile with it.
Here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play. But this box
can hide a secret inside. Can you guess what is in it today? https://www.youtube.com/wat…
"so here it be true believer, a future shock that'll shit you up"
Not really wordless because it had the 'where am I?' 'in the village' etc. at the beginning of each episode.
Monkey Magic
Thanks Judkins, it actually did make me feel much better and Gruff dedicated Fire In My Heart to everybody hurting from the election results. I don't feel sad, just very very angry.
I'm all over it!
