Swing Low by Miriam Toews the second of hers I've read and they've both been pretty great. This one is her writing about her father's (who committed suicide) life from his perspective. It's not as grim as that sounds and is actually very funny as well as heartbreaking.

Always enjoy your jazz selection

That Matt Berry song always makes me smile.

You could just start with the eponymous debut and work forward from there, you really can't go too far wrong (they're all at least partially great).

I think I just loved the fact that it was so over the top. Agreed on Mia Masikowska's performance but still think that Evan Bird's sloped shoulders, angelic face and unbelievably foul mouth stole the show.

I was going to say Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow just because I think it's the most sonically out there record they did.

Not the weekend but I watched David Cronenberg's Maps To The Stars earlier this week and have been banging on about how much I loved it to anyone who'll listen ever since. It got an indifferent review on this site when it was released but I'm hoping that people give it a chance because it's a wonderfully twisted

Hokey doo, it came out last September here.

Yep, it's a personal thing but none of the films I listed were from 2015. Maps To The Stars is the latest film on there and thatwas released in 2014.

Having seen the whole list now I'd like to speak up for a few films that would have placed strongly in my list (and both Mother and Strangers By The Lake would have been much higher for me).
Ben Wheatley's Sightseers
Karl Markovics' Breathing
The Coens' True Grit
and David Cronenberg's Maps To The Stars
Oh and Lisa

It's a 4 out of 5 from me!

Beautiful Panda Bear track~that album's really grown on me. Plus the Meters (never not knowingly upvoted)

That Mudhoney track could well be my favourite guitar riff ever.

pretty, pretty good but a special mention for Cabaret Voltaire (I think they reworked that track as Sensoria).

I hate to admit it but, yeah, it is kind of profound.

much, much worse. False friends and parasites.

Sorry man, not my bag at all.

What do Betty and Veronica have in common with certain Mexican musicians?

Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, it kind of snuck up on me in that I didn't think I was enjoying it much and then I realised I really was.
