I love her music but I think that more of the criticism tends to be around the fact that she was incredibly and appallingly racist.

I love any scene with Austin Pendleton in!

Festivals are often the only chance I get to see bands these days so the line up is pretty important for me but The Green Man is in a beautiful setting (in the Usk Valley with Sugar Loaf Mountain in the background) and the one time I went previously in 2008 it was a lovely atmosphere despite the mud.

I finished two books (count 'em!) this week. They were Claire Of The Sea Light by Edwidge Danticat and Irma Voth by Miriam Toews. I thought that they were both great. Miriam Toews is new to me and I'm very much looking forward to exploring further because this book felt like a real rough diamond and she seems to

I like to make my own entertainment when I'm in an altered state. This typically consists of weed and dark rum and loading some nice loops into my sampler (I always have lists lying around of stuff that I want to loop and deep crates). I then plug my sampler into a guitar effects pedal and plug my headphones into

it got drunk

I felt that the first hour of the Babadook was a masterpiece but then the less subtle it got the less scary it got. The reveal is often the big problem because what the viewer is imagining up til that point is generally going to be a lot scarier than what you can put on screen. Agreed that Essie Davis was wonderful

Can't forgive him for his line on Good Friday 'hold on that's the girl you gave a wedding ring? man me and my n$$$$s nutted on her everyhting'~worst best man's speech of all time!

You definitely should check it out, I think it's a really strong album.

Agreed we've been on a great run since the back end of last year with PRhyme, Cannibal Ox, Open Mike Eagle's A Special Episode EP, Joey Bada$$, Lupe and the Mello Music Group compilation. I'm sure I'm missing some as well.

"You’d be forgiven for missing Jackets’ overstuffed samples"
I would imagine that with this being the first commercial release he'd have to be a lot more wary around sample clearance issues.
