I think my favorite of that kind of thing was Autechre's "Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae," which at two hours was longer than the album it was supposedly a companion piece to, despite being labelled an "EP."

Seriously.
I'm one of those who generally just didn't like the Hellboy movies, alas, but Hellboy II did contain one of my favorite superhero-movie moments: when Abe's looking around with those Glasses What Show You Reality, before they head off to the bazaar-or-whatever (it's been awhile, okay), and happens to glance past…
Perhaps their lawyers advised them to put it front and center, lest someone win the contest without realizing that they'd be trapped on a boat with Fred Durst, and then decide to sue or something. Due diligence, and all that.
Ooh, this was one of my favorites from the last wifilmfest. I assume this means it's getting wider distribution now? Excellent. I would totally see this again.
Heh, yeah. It's annoying how bigger bands tend to pretend like Bandcamp doesn't exist. I assume it's because they can probably get a bigger slice of the pie elsewhere (I think Bandcamp takes something like 15%). I wonder if Bandcamp counts as one of the "self elected gate-keepers" of music distribution that they're…
Atoms for Peace took some time to grow on me. I wasn't too thrilled at first but it'd still occasionally pop up in my playlist and I've become quite fond of it. (King of Limbs not so much, unfortunately.)
Yeah, I was a bit annoyed that there was nothing inbetween $6 mp3 and $50 vinyl. I dig that the vinyl version sounds pretty awesome, but there's a middle ground between "base commodity" and "expensive art piece."
Seriously, it's an awesome album. I suppose at least it's acknowledged as "divisive" up there. It'd easily make my top-5 list for RDJ. (Then, I'd also put SAW2 up there instead of SAW85-92, so clearly Kyle and I are not on the same page AFXwise.)
Agreed! I've seen Princess Bride countless times, but I'm pretty terrible at noticing that kind of thing and didn't make the connection until it was pretty explicitly laid out later in the movie. So yeah: going in blind probably helps this one out quite a bit. (I also have never read the story it was based on, so…
Yeah, I saw this at the Wisconsin Film Fest last spring and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Somehow I'd missed that half the thing was animated, so it was a pretty bizarre shock when that came up.
I was *not* expecting to see Android Lust and I, Parasite posters in anything to do with Metallica or ESPN.
Call me old-fashioned, but I'm going to continue to just jam my fingers into the meat and then support both buns (with toppings) on top of that. Y'all aren't keeping ME down!
Heh, well obviously if you go into Epcot demanding roller coasters, you're going to be disappointed. Perhaps it does take the kind of personality which gets sentimental about World's Fairs, as @avclub-6e87bfc5ac7ef7ef7ef092edc06c3bb6:disqus mentioned - the "Oh boy, it's the future!" vibe of Epcot is just awesome. …
@avclub-91ba62b4ceab6d1f3d3214b0be99593c:disqus - You take that back right now! Epcot is awesome.
It would almost be worth it to set up a website where people could post pictures of themselves with their old VHS Speed tapes, alongside their pledges never to let this guy get his hands on them…
Is there anything out there that actually exists in the same sonic space as Burial? I remember being absolutely thrilled that I had found out about a whole new genre, when I first heard Burial, and then was constantly disappointed because absolutely nothing else labeled "dubstep" had anything but a vague resemblance…
I hadn't noticed the sexism, but the initial-causality problem bugged the hell out of me, and probably contributed to my dislike of the movie. I think (like @22b04441442d02b92c64ddb85f686e10:disqus) that I was possibly a victim of over-hype to begin with, so my expectations were inflated a bit too much.
I actually remain quite fond of Ghostbusters 2, though of course it pales in comparison to the original. Probably I just saw it at the "right" time when I was a kid, and it happened to be pitched well to my age/sensibilities at the time.
Ha, indeed. Though to be fair, I'm pretty sure that besides Trent, there's only one other actual band member in the shot (I think that's Josh Eustis sitting down on the lefthand side).
