Apparently I'm getting old and jaded or something, 'cause I sort of groaned a bit when I read about the obligatory swordfights.  To me, those are the least-interesting bits of the story - I was rather bored by all the Epic Battleness in the original LotR trilogy.  It comes across fine in the book because it doesn't

I dunno about "willfully ignorant," that's a bit harsh.  I actually hadn't known about them until earlier this year…  Once I DID know about them, I see their names all over the place (relatively speaking), but prior to that I'd apparently always just glaze over the names-of-people-I-don't-know, especially given that I

Ha, awesome.  I actually just found out about 'em earlier this year when I saw Dessa open up for Saul Williams' most recent spoken word tour thing, and have since joined (apparently?) the ranks of people saying that A Badly Broken Code is amazing.  'Cause it's totally awesome.

I remember reading an interview with them, ages ago, where they expressed their displeasure at constantly being referred to as "quirky."  And there it is again, right there in the subheadline on the Rolling Stones article!  I wonder if they've made their peace with the word yet…

Sort of a shame at the "greatest hits" thing.  I've always thought those were fairly tacky when they throw in new songs as well.  How exactly are these unknown songs "greatest?"  That's a bit presumptuous, isn't it?

I don't find it strange that Justin Bieber's manager has a Twitter account, but I do find it pretty damn disturbing that anyone would actually follow said Twitter account.

Heh, it took me a little bit to get past the whole "adult contemporary" vibe he occasionally gets into sonically (it was especially bad on Golden Delicious, which I was just never able to get past on that one).  I personally think he's come out with some fantastic stuff solo, though.  Haughty Melodic took me totally

Heh - I'm also quite fond of his solo career (with the exception of Golden Delicious), but yeah, this is a definite WTF type thing.  But hey, ART, right?  At least his "real" releases remain down-to-earth.  His recently-released cover album was like $10 and rather pleasant, IMO.

I suppose maybe I should give Red Matter the benefit of the doubt…  Perhaps it was named after the great 23rd Century scientist Clarence Red, who had happened to devote his life to the study of materials which happened to have the same color as his last name.

@mjlogue33:disqus - I expect technobabble, damnit!  I don't care if your made-up fantasy goo solves any problem you apply it to, just invent some fake sciency words to make it sound like it's something other than play-doh.
