And if the mood on this site continues, we can also expect a lot of good instrumental/electronica/minimalist music reviews to accompany those releases. Good stuff.

So, Oh No, is it similar to the Clientele's latest? Or is Bonfires on the Heath more like Van Occupanther?

At least Album Leaf tattoos will still get you into LaValle's shows for free.
This review makes it sound more like you're mourning his inability to reach his potential more than anything, Heller… but dammit, the last Album Leaf album was great, and I'm still glad there's a new release.

Where You Go I Go Too
Best album to listen to when you're stuck for 45 minutes waiting for something that's been delayed. Also, just a damn fine album. Looking forward to picking this up!

I can see the Hurt Locker getting shut out by that strange Oscar phenomenon where the voters feel like they did it a favor just nominating it for so many. Then Avatar wins. We're all dreading it.

Or, Lone, see also: Crash.

I want the Hurt Locker to fucking demolish this thing. I haven't seen Haneke's latest, but it was the most brutal film I saw in 2009. And that deserves some fucking awards.

Just picked this up and gave it a listen and… HOLY SHIT. This is the best motherfucking piece of electronica I've heard for a while. And discounting some of the house-influenced albums from last year, the best for a long while. I enjoyed Neon Indian earlier this month, but this kicks it's ass.

Drop another beat on us, Vanilla Corn!

Second on WC FIELDS BITCH.

Is portrait of frowning guy to the left of the frame the new black?
Look at the three movie reviews up, you decide.

Doesn't Focus still count? Fox Searchlight? Or no?
I mean, there's at least two corporate-independents still out there, by my count.

Stealth ZMF comment. I give it 10 points.

Amazingly, Hot Dogs, he wrote the fanfic 2 decades before either came out.

Sly & Robbie have their own catalog, and it was one of my first introductions to dub. I was listening to a live Peter Tosh recording, and they were on it. Later, when I saw they had a stack of material in the record store, I picked some up. I was glad to see Robbie get a mention up there, but Sly & Robbie together

Sly & Robbie
FTW.

Count me as a third who's preparing to be wrecked. Eternal Sunshine is tough and beautiful and made just that much easier to watch BECAUSE of its sci-fi element and whimsical visuals, and with the absence of that… it'll probably be worse for me than Rachel Getting Married.

Sounds like the best day of the festival
Between Winter's Bone, the shorts, Louis C.K., and Cane Toads: Part Deux this sounds like a day full of enjoyable media. Maybe it'll be worth replicating if these can find a distributor/dedicated pirate. Has there been any news on the release of Winter's Bone, in particular?

Kif! Clear my schedule!
