Jimmy's line that 'I am what time and circumstance have made me', would more an aptly apply to Gillian.

Eli is in custody facing prosecution for evil deeds carried out on Nucky's behalf.  Being Eli, he is likely to go turncoat on Nucky, so Nucky will probably send Sleater or a crooked cop on his payroll to take him out.

Perhaps she could bake another fortune-telling Irish cake.

Maybe he will grow a beard and join an Amish colony in Pennsylvania, that sounds like his kind of thing.

Now I can fully comprehend Eli's digust at Jimmy/The Commodore/Gillian's attempt at presenting themselves as a cohesive family unit earlier in the season.

Having O'Hollaran roughed up on the Boardwalk shows once again how stupid and tactless Eli is,  thinking he could shut O'Hollaran up with a bit of physical intimidation, he achieved the opposite.

Jimmy is becoming erratic and impulsive, and what his is doing is ultimately going against his best interests.  He is the Jackie Aprile Jr. of Boardwalk Empire. Maybe he could get whacked while hanging out with Chalky, and Leander could sing a couple of musical numbers at his wake.

Angela was a lousy character.  It was like she was fashioned from a Women's studies textbook, and was more of an abstract representation than an actual person.  No disrespect to Miss Pallandino.

For all her bookishness and street smarts, Margaret is delusional to think she can buy restitution from the church or God.  The priest is aware of her situation and where her goods came from (if he had any integrity, he would of been like the psychiatrist from The Sopranos who refuses payment from Carmella because it

Agreed.  Also, Dean Stockwell's use of a lamp as a microphone that illuminates his face in a creepy way = stroke of genius.

Just like I cannot see a Heineken bottle without emulating Frank Booth's contempt for it.  I've never even tasted Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Go away!!!

Absolutely.  The insolent way he acted while visiting the Thompson/Schroeder household asking for a handout bred contempt and he finally got what was coming to him.

McGarrigle being killed off echos the death of 'Big Jim' Colissimo in season one.  'Big Jim' was reluctant to get into the liquor business, and was whacked.  Point is that if you get the way, you will be forcibly removed.

Richard had no qualms about murdering civilian siblings of the D'Allesio brothers in order to bring them out of hiding, so he is capable of anything.

Jimmy is just messing around, trying to make Richard feel like 'one of the boys', but missing half of his face must take its toll on Richard's self-esteem, and hence he is super-sensitive.

Richard did spend a day in the woods contemplating suicide a few episodes back, so his state of mind is somewhere between self-consciousness and full-blown paranoia.  We will have to see how it plays out.

Point taken, but the bedroom scene with Nicholson seemed more like token HBO nudity, just like similar scenes from season one with Angela Darmody and her 'kissing friend' seemed to be an excuse for a bit of girl-on-girl action.  It's all fine with me, but it seems forced and contrived, disconnected from narrative.

Sure, but he was in Boogie Nights.
