See this bothers me. While I get that whinging about "poseurs" and sellouts etc is irritating and not fun to hear, there's a legitimate point to it sometimes. Punk is built on a weird foundation, sure, and no one is arguing the Sex Pistols were a bastion of moral fortitude and indie cred. But the punk scene genuinely

I laughed so hard at that. As someone with two moms it was so spot on. Except my moms would be more into Provincetown and building sheds… Still. Awesome.

I love that; it's a great comedy line because it sorta almost seems reasonable… and you can imagine someone who doesn't think things through doing exactly that. So funny.

I was wondering how much of this was my perception of his books after learning of his diagnosis. I'm sad to see it wasn't only. I had hoped I was being ridiculous and he was fine. I excel at magical thinking!

I translated for mike park when he toured japan with the Chinkees. He was a great guy. It cracked him up that every Japanese person assumed he was the translator and I (a white guy) was the band member. When I would explain in Japanese that he knew no Japanese they'd look confused and he'd laugh. I finally resorted to

Man I loved His Hero Is Gone so much…
And everything released on Ebullition. I think I have Eb 1-75 or so on my record shelf to this day. Great stuff.

I think Moffat later answers the question of why a companion would leave quite nicely. With Amy and Rory, he shows how much you sacrifice… It's exciting and fun and everything, a s a passive viewer. But in-universe… It's bizarre, unstable, and scary. The entire universe shifts around you… As a person with a normal

I love "Take Me Out…" without restraint. It's goofy and corny, but I love it. Such a fun break from the intense Dominion War story without being removed- the characters remind the audience why they are fighting just by being their flawed, goofy selves. Great episode in a great season.

I love this column, thank you for it. I'm from the exact same moment in the scene as you apparently are, down to similar experiences. (My band released the classic punk trifecta- 7", 10", and LP!) It's amazing to revisit this time. After I read the first few I called old friends and reminisced! So, cheers for that.

I put on a show in my small town in 1994 that Propaghandi played. We had a few hours to kill before they played, so we took them to the mall! We didn't think that through. But to be fair I was 16 and had no idea what to do.

The "Rise/Age" two parter perfectly illustrates that I cannot be objective about Who. I enjoy them immensely despite the obvious flaws. I rewatched them several times and still enjoyed them. I think I'm in an unhealthy relationship with Who.

I will say having kids changed my opinion on this- I was just like Cy, and hated to even revisit them… But showing them to my kids, letting them just enjoy the original trilogy… that was pretty cool. It reminded me of why I liked the movies.

I also lugged around MST3K tapes for years, long after I had gotten rid of my VCR. Finally, moving to a bigger place in Seattle in 2005, my pregnant wife insisted we just get rid of them. I reluctantly placed them on freecycle.
And three teenage kids that were like past versions of myself, my wife and my old HS buddy

I have heard ( and no idea how true this is) that it was a reaction to the mustache being common among military and ruling class people in Germany. And the chinbeard was a way to emphasize pacifism and refusal to engage in that culture.
Again no idea if that is historically accurate, but I thought it was interesting.

I can totally appreciate that. As someone who works with exactly the types of parents parodied here, and (much more rarely) the overzealous or baffling Child Protection Services system.. this episode hits close to home. But I still find it hilarious and touching.
I just wish I had more Homers and fewer Cletuses. But

Gabbo did indeed tell us what to do. Thank you, Gabbo.

I named my son after one of her characters. She wrote me a wonderful note thanking me when I told her. She is amazing, so glad to see a primer on her.
