Argo is in a couple of other Scorsese movies- he turns up for sure in After Hours as the late-late ngith diner chef, and I'm sure he's in at least one other, but I can't think of it.

Anyone seen the straight to video Deadfall? It was directed by Cage's brother. Cage
turns up playing a con man with a bizarre wig, droopy tash and an orange tan. It is, genuinely, his most looney performance, with some of his best freakouts EVER. And this was back in 1993! It has to be seen to be believed- it pissed…
Another Cult Role
Let's not forget his wonderfully hammy turn in Scanners- just listen to the way he says "Darryl Revok", really rolling those RRRRs.
The Outfit
Hasn't anybody seen The Outfit? I believe its based on one of this chap's books. Stars Robert Duvall, Joe Don Baker and Robert Ryan. Very good movie, great action sequences. Hard to get hold of, I believe- no DVD in any region, I don't think.
92 in the Shade
Warren Oates! Peter Fonda! Harry Dean Stanton! Written and directed by Thomas McGuane, based on his own book- where is this movie?
Also another vote for Tom Waits's Big Time- why has that vanished?
Surely the AV Club could at least ring up DVD production companies for all the films mentioned here, and…
"From one of the producers of American Pie"
How enticing.
The career of Sam Mendes: constantly wanking for oscars.
10. Carlito's Way- a gent gets shot in the cheek.
92 Degrees
Do you reckon that Thomas McGuane made that 92 degrees quote the basis of '92 in the Shade'?
Yes, he made it after some bad cocaine destroyed all the platelets in his body or something (prove me wrong, science geeks, prove me wrong), and De Niro came to him while he was recuperating. He didn't even want to make it initially.
See also Steven Bach's book about Heaven's Gate for some of De Niro trying to get it…
James Taylor was on a BBC programme the other night, and they mentioned this movie. He seemed vaguely ashamed of it, and seemed to think that it was totally forgotten.
Zapp's version is hilarious.
The whole time Dylan denied he was any kind of cultural leader, so you can hardly blame him for walking away. That and the fact that people were breaking into the house that he shared with his wife and kids (as related in Chronicles).
A Shameful Admission
I can't judge the quality of the dialogue in this movie, as, alas, I've never watched it with the sound on.
"Flip you, melon farmer!"
That's the classic one, taken from the TV cut of Repo Man, I think.
I remember the TV version of the Terminator simply cut off use of "fuck", so when the robot gets crushed at the end, Sarah Connor just says "You're 'kin terminated" or something like that.
Lust for Life is perfect as it fucking well is.
Karaoke will probs never be released, as it was a co-production of the BBC and Channel 4 (other UK TV channel) as per Potter's dying wishes, and so the rights issues are apparently a nightmare.
Finney's deffo still alive. He's just been in The Bourne Ultimatum for heaven's sake!
Cops of the Future
Hows about Long Arm of The Law by Warren Zevon? Not his best lyrics, but a killer song all the same- great piano part and melody.
Tobacky
His commentaries are genuinely interesting, and often make you more interested in the movies, but every now and then you have to say, 'I'm sorry, thats just not what I'm seeing on the screen!'
Having said that, he is a very interesting filmmaker, and I think his reputation is maybe actually harmed by the stars…
