Given the show doesn't really do "sorta" death scenes and even undid Helena's at the end of S1, its kind of obvious when they shot Delphine in the gut that she wasn't done. A fatal shot would have been in the head. Also the actress has another show so that's part of it.

I'd say…they wanted to close differently then in other years. I can respect them for resolving an arc somewhat differently. Though after fighting God's Sister I don't really know where they could go for next year, but with the apparent set-up of the next Big Bad I was like: Really? That's it?
