I know what you mean - I was 11 in 1985, and while I was aware of Run DMC (thanks mainly to my local roller rink), I have little appreciation for most of what people call "seminal" in that time, too.

I actually didn't mind Musicology, but it could be that my expectations were so low at that point, it was a low bar to get over.  I did see him on that tour, though, and he was fucking amazing.

I'm starting to realize that I may also be putting Ill Communication at the bottom - despite some outstanding tracks, it's the least different album from its predecessor.  I'll maintain that Hello Nasty just came out 4 years too early; in 2002 that would have hit the exact right spot.  Plus, it starts the Mixmaster…
