It didn't seem forced to me, I totally bought it. You can certainly argue that it went too far (they definitely knew it had a lot of parallels to an abuser/victim scenario), but TWD doesn't generally do things halfway.

I suppose it depends. Showing Rick's actions from the eyes of his enemies is interesting; having him killing perfectly decent people needlessly is awful. So it basically comes down to whether or not his takeover involves harming innocents or not.

I feel like he got that like a season ago. They already seem much more like partners than father/son. Otherwise Rick would have freaked out that Carl was walking around outside the walls.

That's still not like living out there. They get to go to a bed at night and don't have to go out every day. They don't live with the possibility of being killed on a constant basis. So yeah, they're not on even ground with Rick's people at all.

I agree with all this except Glenn being repub/libertarian. Being the guy who's always talking about how everybody needs to work together and help each other, he's by all indications pretty much the ideological opposite of Ron Paul.

Yeah, but he's already clearly proven that he's not needlessly cruel when it comes to people under his care. And honestly, if anybody is dumb enough to fuck with him, they're going to get set straight pretty quickly.
