Well I just looked it up. The special issue on Jerry Lewis was 1967/68, when Cahiers was definitely leftist, as they had been since the Jacques Rivette days in the early-to-mid-60s.

Don't get me wrong. I am not defending Jerry Lewis. I thought he was great in "The King of Comedy," and hugely hit-and-miss in "The Nutty Professor," but for the most part I find him intolerable.

Or, for that matter, "French people love Howard Hawks and John Ford."

Godard was born in Paris, and has lived for half of his life in France. He's both French and Swiss. Also, he was working in France when he was a critic. Jesus.

It's not obscure. Cahiers du Cinema devoted a special issue to him in the 1970s (I believe). Many of France's most esteemed critics, including Godard, have praised Jerry Lewis effusively.

Not every contrarian position is trolling. And in this case, Brett B is correct.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOverrated.

I don't understand this film. I'm a big fan of Louis Malle, having seen nearly all of his films, but I just couldn't get into this one. Could someone explain the supposed appeal?

I won't say that "Married…with Children" was flawlessly great, but when it was on it was ON! And that means at least four, probably five great seasons. It was a deliriously good show that made for the best of Sunday night viewing for many an in-the-know TV viewer in the lae 80s and early 90s. "The Simpsons" ripped off

Good to know, thanks!

I'm a Seoul man. Korean porn is the best.

Except, those critics wer right. The Blues Brothers movie was a questionable cash-in on the popularity of a couple of SNL characters. The film is only intermittently funny. Nothing compared to…MacGruber!

You may need to examine your use of the word "revolutionary". A TV show's being fast paced is hardly the stuff of revolution, political, social, or or otherwise.

Have you ever actually seen "Married with Children"? Because that was a great show for its first several seasons. I'm pretty sure you don't know what you're talking about.

Note to the reviewer: it's really silly to refer to Genesis P-Orridge, who has a dick and balls, as "her". S/HE him/herself sez: "I"m not a chick with a dick, I'm a man with tits."

I viewed this movie about a month ago, and it really deserves an A. Too bad the A.V. Club is afraid of giving A's to new movies.

I have to disagree with you.

Psychic TV are probably the greatest band of all time. I've plunged deep into their catalog, and some of their shit is unbelievably interesting. Ever seen "First Transmission"?

He had one of the world's largest Barbie collections at one point.

He's not a "her". As Genesis himself says, he's not a "chick with a dick" but rather "a man with tits."
