And it's important to remember that Fugazi made a SHITTON of money (Or, more specifically, Dischord made a shitton of money for people in Fugazi). The never had to sell out to become wealthy. Like Zach says, they had build in audience and owned their distro. They were good enough at the business that they never had to

So the defense is that the song used in the commercial is a parody of a song that is a parody of frat boy culture?

I agree, its not a good movie. But it is also not a desperate attempt to commercialize on the history either.

Really? The man has been trying to get that movie made for decades and struggled all along the way because studios don't like to make big movies with majority black casts. He finally did and of course marketed it to that audience. The movie just wasn't all that attractive. He may have lost his touch, but you can't say

Man, the musical narrow-mindedness some people have about what can or cannot be called punk is so annoying. A band draws outside of the lines and immediately is not punk. In what world is Fugazi specifically and post-hardcore generally not punk? Would you also say Minutemen and X were related to but not punk? How

Shaky cam is not supposed to resemble a POV shot from a human, but resemble news and documentary footage to make a shot feel more in the moment and real. That can be argued with, but its not shaky to emulate human vision.

Please, please AV Club can you get rid of grades so I can never read completely asinine comments comparing grades given by different reviewers, as if the grades represent some kind of AV Club hive mind.

It is jarring, and generally I prefer Firefly to Serenity. However, resetting the Mal/River dynamic makes Serenity a better movie, not a worse one. Continuity be damned.

As much as I love Firefly and Serenity, the Chinese slang makes very little sense. I suppose it could be a signal that actually they are speaking a hybrid language that has been englishfied for the purpose of story-telling, but really, it comes off half-assed, even with the back story.

Yes, Bryan Fuller for next ST showrunner. He has actually worked in the franchise, and the distinct, campy, traits he brings to his shows would bring back a lot of the fun elements of OG Trek.

Nevermind, read that wrong

I too miss the former music guy at Target Field.

For all you Minneapolitans out there, next time you are at Hymie's records (or the first time for those who have not been), check out the photo of the owners of Hymie's in the same spot as the Let it Be photo. Apparently the current owners of the house buy their vinyl at Hymie's. As you all should.

I was born in '83, still have a few more months before I hit 30 though.

So, are they giving all the antiquities in the British Museum back to the countries they came from?

Apparently she was a hot mess during that production. I know people who worked on the set, and apparently Woody Harrelson was constantly on LiLo about her unprofessionalism. Both before and after he would step outside to share a joint with Altman.

But it only affects the continuity of the Garfield franchise. Is anyone so attached to this continuity of Spidey that they really care? It doesn't effect the books, the older movies, anything else.

Its not a retcon, its a different telling of the story.
