They didn't say she had a baby at 16, only that she left at 16 ad came back 10 years later with a baby and a MC

Yeah, in High School in Colorado and at college in Minnesota, it was 90-100 A, 80-89 B, and so on, with the pluses and minuses set within those sections (I forget exactly where)

More white than Mad Men?

Indeed.

@lovemydog: According to the website there is a location (and corporate HQ) downtown at Hennepin and 7th. Going to have to check it before the Son Volt show at Firs Ave this weekend.

It's all about crunchy. Smooth Peanut butter is for people who like pulp-free OJ, boneless wings, and, worst of all, skim milk (seriously, that shit is blue. That is just wrong).

Yeah, sorry, I didn't mea to be a gotta prove it asshole. I live and work in good old South Minneapolis, in the Nokomis area. And yeah, spring sucks in MN. I'm rigionally frm CO, which has cold, but not for sustained periods of time. It gets to the middle of March and I've seen like 3 days above freezing, and then

lovemdog: I am a Minneapolitan, and after a quick googling:

Indeed, please come to Minneapolis. Same weather as Chicago in October, you'll be fine!

I still remember watching this episode when if was first released. All summer the question around the house was , "who's been shot?" And dammed if the reveal in the opener isn't grand.

In regards to Strickler not getting a shot off after the first round: its pretty hard to shoot when you've been hit in the stomach at close range with a .45 ACP. It won't kill you instantly, but it will certainly be enough of a shock to the system to prevent you from doing much other than falling over.

Hax
This went up this morning and already has 3 pages of comments. Oh, friday, it's like going to work, without working. Anyway, super glad to see that Donna, like me, will be checking the Carolyn Hax chat today, obsessively hitting refresh to absorb whatever nuggets of wisdom she is dispensing.

As a Minnesotan, let me just say Chicago winters ain't shit. Sure there is a shit ton of snow, but at least it get above freezing regularily

@intangible and Ghost: I am pretty sure the fuck you mirror scene is pretty much straight from the book, with some little changes to reflect the changes in attitudes about arab-americans since 9/11

One more for Boss-Fest
The Bouncing Souls. The Boss influence isn't quite as noticable as with other bands, but it is certainly present. Also, their live version of Growin' Up is absolutely amazing.

They've been there since the first season. They are, indeed, awesome.

This sums up my feelings on Chesney better than I could ever articulate:

@ miles: Indeed

Yeah, I saw them open for the Kills last night at First Ave in Minneapolis, and the horrors put on about the worst live show I've seen in a while. All the same tempo, same bassist bobbing his head up and down dressed like a fucking new-wave sailor. And not one bit of interaction with the audience. In other words,

New Morning, definitely, is an under looked masterpiece. At the time it was released it was talked about critically as a comeback album, really setting the stage for the critical and commercial success of Blood on the Tracks. And as awesome as Blood on the Tracks is, I find myself listening to New Morning much more
