The misogyny was pretty extreme, but that's also a hallmark of Bond movies. However, it's a lot less excusable in this day and age, so fuck those guys who really ought to know better. As long as the movies have pretty girls, I doubt the average filmgoer would mind if the franchise started treating them like people.

Comedy isn't all about jokes, and a lot of jokes aren't funny without some kind of context within the story. It's true that there are some good comedies with barely-there plots, but plot and characterization are pretty damn important to most of them.

@avclub-8210173b51782dc7755ef71fc36d4197:disqus , your claim that the film will be successful if it's good enough is ludicrous, and you should know it.

@Scrawler2:disqus I've only seen a couple episodes from later seasons of the show so I can't make an informed comment, but I've always thought Nancy's career trajectory was sort of emblematic of the upper-middle class mindset (spoken as one born and raised in that mindset). The idea of going out and getting some

I dunno, @avclub-5dc978b30969d0ba612c37bb0543eafb:disqus , I like to think that in his place I'd try to make good movies.

Terence Malick, sure, but Harmony Korine?

The desert certainly is beautiful, but I can see how it could be bleak, if for no other reason than the relative lack of plant life, which gets to you after a few hundred miles. There's an isolation in West Texas that's unsettling, partly because it's so goddamn big. No Country For Old Men did a good job of showing

That is my favorite line of the episode.

In Russian, the word "vodka" is a diminutive form of the word for water, "vod." So Russians think of vodka as water, only cuter.

Caramel vodka and sour mix? That sounds hideous.

Well, that picture doesn't really show off his muscular body, but you're right that he has one. Sam looks like he might grow up to be sort of weedy-looking, but John Francis Daley has turned out pretty big and beautiful.

"I was 5 when this came out its sad how much music has changed. Most people will say this sucks, and i say because the new so called "music" now is implanted in their brain. I miss this kind music"

It's true that everyone says something crass or dickish from time to time, but I don't think that's what this is about. If you testified under oath that you are a shameless mom-fucker who routinely exaggerates his conquests, some people might think you're an asshole but it wouldn't be too big of a deal. If you started

@avclub-7e1ce4ce3124fd9ecc13a151afcff11b:disqus Of course flip comments about movies don't cause these divisions (did anyone actually say that?), and yeah, it's pretty minor. But as a Southerner living in the Midwest, I always roll my eyes at these comments. It's not deeply offensive or anything, but this is the kind

Very well said, @avclub-75c0ce4ad8c4d435237c84af7d40b443:disqus

I'm from the South and I live in Chicago, and I have to say Chicago's race relations are considerably more fucked than anything I'd ever encountered before. I've only lived in pretty large urban centers, though, so I can't comment on rural communities.

Actually, @avclub-7e1ce4ce3124fd9ecc13a151afcff11b:disqus I think the innocuousness of setting is kind of the point. It's these minor cultural divisions that really keep the us v. them dynamic going.

Jesus Christ, that's rough.

Sam seems like he's probably the smartest of the three, although that might just be because his sister is unusually bright. The Weirs seem to me to be that family: the one where everyone is intelligent, good-looking and successful, and that's just the way it is.
