@Dikachu:disqus I think "greatness" in acting of any sort has a few varieties. Think of it as the leading man v. character actor dynamic.

@avclub-22eda830d1051274a2581d6466c06e6c:disqus you make an excellent point. Sheer charisma shines through for voice actors too, although I'd argue it's harder for a voice actor to have that kind of presence. Jon Benjamin has the same thing going on.
I'd like to hate Seth MacFarlane much more than I do. He's capable of

Wow, that's the first time I've heard anyone accuse the Simpson's animators of stepping into the uncanny valley. They, uh, don't exactly aim for verisimilitude with their work.

Staley's death was due to more than just heroin. Being a junkie - especially a junkie with money - doesn't mean you have to neglect yourself in pretty much every way possible. Staley was self-destructive in a way that leads to but does not result from drug addiction.

And it would at least be watchable.

No, it's really not. It's a story that gets its meaning from the telling.

I'd pay to see your version, @avclub-808e22af6c33eea22608f30cef458844:disqus .

@avclub-0840875a9da6f24c4e0fc883b399d93a:disqus It's psychological torture on top of physical torture, and it's psychological torture that's driven by the threat of physical torture. That scene is unbelievably fucked up, and it actually made me a little nauseous. You have to hand it to GRRM, Ramsay is one of the most

@avclub-858b67085072a6f2403cf500871f4068:disqus I said most of her decisions were stupid, not all. And telling Robb not to break his promise to the Freys is so self-evident that I'm not sure she gets points for wisdom there. @avclub-9b60cf1b2106f886f17cba2b1a0359b9:disqus , I disagree. Kidnapping Tyrion and setting

@avclub-e57dbebc740250d2c4a370cf6ccb35f0:disqus I'm going to go with both. She makes rash decisions and is then too stupid to understand how much her actions have put her family in danger, choosing to blame it entirely on the Lannisters. And then she makes further rash decisions on the grounds that she's trying to

Yes, I agree. But Jesus Christ, couldn't they use a little less screen time? I get what they're doing, but a lot of it still seems like filler to me. There are other storylines that could benefit from that time (just not Bran's, please god, not Bran's).

Cat from the books might be strong, but except for a very few isolated decisions, she is incredibly stupid. Her poor judgment is a huge driving force in starting the war in the first place, and it only gets worse from there.

Who said it was awful? I said we watched an awful lot of movies. And all the movies I listed are fantastic and stand the test of time, thank you very much.

Disney's Robin Hood. My brother and sister and I watched the shit out of that movie. There was a day when we were all home sick, and we watched that thing the entire day. As soon as the credits rolled, we hit rewind and watched it again. Burger King had sliders on their menu at that point (mid-'80s) and that day we

Yup. Live music is like any other social event - you do it because it's how you hang out with your friends, how you spend your hard-earned cash on getting wasted, and, most importantly, how you get laid.

$27.80, at least it is today. I've paid a comparable amount to see bands I'm not familiar with on more than one occasion. The poor fucker is in Wales, after all, what the fuck else is he going to do? Go through a dictionary and remove all the vowels?

Still what? People get much better obituaries that way. It's not disrespectful or creepy, on the contrary. Aren't you grateful to get a thoughtful analysis of a person's life and work? People want thorough obits and fast - how long does it take between an announcement of a person's death and the commentariat clamoring

You'e right, it's usually for anyone notable. I wonder what the criteria are for being obit-worthy, and is there a point in a person's career when they find out they're important enough to warrant that kind of notice? Does your agent call you once the NYTimes or the Guardian or whoever deems your life worthy of

It's common to have obits, or at least the necessary research for an obit, ready for people who are both really important and really old or sick.

It's white bread. Because white bread is boring. And I'm pretty sure it's an '80s expression that doesn't really go much deeper than middle-class, conventional people tend to be dull as shit; by the '80s most Americans just assumed that everyone is able to buy bread.
