To be fair, "manga style" only takes it's inspiration from the most commercial animated works, not comics really. Real japanese comics arguably have an even greater range of artwork variation than AngloAmerican ones.

Just a small discrepancy, Miller - I don't really see Shaun of the Dead as -ever- really lapsing into horror. It just goes from comedy to melodrama, within a horror setting. Within its moments of drama, it feels more like a war or disaster film than anything else.

Give it a chance, it's a great little show, and at six episodes, you can watch the whole thing in one sitting if you want.
