Chandler, Altman, and Gould deserve credit for, among other things, somehow transforming "I even lost my cat" into a badass line.

Miller—I completely agree that Planetary is a 100% Warren Ellis book (sort of irresponsible quantum science, all characters talk like "right bastards") but I'm curious what are the generally agreed upon Ellisian quirks other than those (and techno futurism stuff)?
The entire Game of Thrones series is the final, feverish thoughts of Bran as he dies broken on the ground after falling from the tower.
I am DREADING his inevitable return to megalomania. I've been reading comics long enough to not put money on "permanent character growth" when "decades of a status quo to return to" is on the table, but I'm a sucker for a rehabilitation story.
I never would've thought that "Magneto Revengancing His Way Across Small-Town America in a Pickup" would be as compelling as Magneto #1 was, but here we are.
I'd actually recommend starting with Saga of the Swamp Thing starting with Swamp Thing #21 by Alan Moore. Constantine was created by Moore and the "good guy with a heart of bastard" character is laid out really well in it.
Honestly, as someone who loves Brian K. Vaughan's work in all its questionable-pop-culture-referencing glory, I had no problem accepting the occasional clunky passage. It's worth it for great art, novel main characters, and Avengers holding angelic sloths in a religious tableau.
I do.*
Then why aren't you saying anything about it? I'm getting a lot of mixed messages.
Welp, you're dead on about the running time. Consider my opinion eviscerated.
Well I've scrolled down and seen that you've got strong feelings about White House Down. I regret my defense already.
Except of course that White House Down was delicious, delicious Cheese. The White House is saved by a little girl's flag routine? I'd watch a thousand movies where the hero's big moment is inspired by the War of 1812 before watching Bruce Willis sign a two hour long check.
I think Hello Sadness' lack of winking is exactly why it's my favorite LC album. "Life is a Long Time" for president!
NAILED IT.
Their whole album is streaming on NPR at http://www.npr.org/2013/10/… . I caught them at Nelsonville Music Festival a few months ago and they were easily one of the nicest surprises there. The whole album is stellar.
Eh, I appreciate that they're having wild stories with characters that I recognize after years and years (compared to say, DC). I recognize that continuity is a possible thing to enjoy about comics, but I think focusing on it detracts from the experience. I'm with Dwayne McDuffie - http://www.slushfactory.com…
In fairness, most of them are also really good right now.
"Crane Takes Flight" is my panic button song for stressful days, forever.
I'm so for this, if they made decent money off it. Also it's cool for the K-Mart CEO to demand his kid be in the video at :51.
So goofy, and then that speech about the word "douschebag." Sweet. Jesus. Chilling.
