Holy shit I need to watch this serial again
Holy shit I need to watch this serial again
BBC America ran a special on the 6th Doctor last night. It was very strange seeing Colin Baker and the rest talk about that regeneration & how it played out & indeed his whole run as if it was anything other than a disaster. Nicola Bryant (who is still absolutely beautiful by the way) particularly seemed in denial…
Agreed on Terror of the Zygons, one of my very favorites. There is a new DVD edition of that coming out shortly, too.
Yeah I guess that they decided unlike the earlier doctors T. Baker was young and physical enough that he didn't really need a younger male action-guy assistant, and like the rest of UNIT Harry got phased out. But it was really delightful how much Harry aggravated Four (and Sarah).
Harry Sullivan is an imbecile!
Gorny!!!
Also the yarn from the pig's sweater couldn't possibly have left that long of a trail through the treetops and the dinosaur-infested mine.
I loved that the Old Man got out of the baby dino's gullet, then got eaten again.
I vote that this episode moves past that Johnny Quest episode with the pterodactyl, and is now the greatest ever episode of an animated show featuring a pterodactyl. (This is a very specific honor I realize, but I still somehow feel it is an important one).
The scheduling of Gravity Falls is so random and insane that at this point it doesn't even bother me. There might be a new episode next week! Or maybe it will be ten years before the next one! It's all good.
I feel the absolute same way about cruises as David Foster Wallace did, perhaps a bit moreso. "A supposedly fun thing I'll never do again."
You had me at T's
I don't think the MST3K movie even played theaters in the state I was in, or any state adjacent to it.
Terry Gilliam in his greatest role…
I think she is a very good actress, lovely, and gave a very thoughtful and interesting interview here. I can't agree that her character in "World War Z" was more than a "sidekick" though. Frankly I thought the bald Israeli actress was the sidekick, and a good one. Mireille Enos's character was less than that—the "nag"…
I don't like to stroke our collective egos too much, but totally agree this is by far the most literate and interesting forum commentary on the internet. (Of course, that is a pretty low bar, but I think we clear it).
I assume that if any of you people found out my physical address, I'd be dead in 24 hours. Just seems like a safe assumption.
Jack Vance was the man. The Demon Princes novels are endlessly fascinating to me, though The Dying Earth books (also great) are I suppose what he'll most be remembered for.
Robert Silverberg is still alive! Wow. He and Roger Zelazny (sadly of course now long dead) are pretty much my favorite sci-fi authors I suppose.
Sure, but she is still a lot younger than them. Plus she is Shirley Temple! And he is Cary Grant! It would be like Brad Pitt fooling around on Angelina Jolie with the actress from Disney Channel's "iCarly." Technically legal (she is 20 now according to wikipedia), but wrong on so many levels. But, then again…
