Chekhov's Jag-you-wire.

This was pretty disappointing. I, too, was hoping for more of an inside look at the dancing and the inner workings of a professional ballet company. They thrust the two relationships on us immediately and spent entirely too much time on them. Especially since one of them is largely fictional in that it only exists

I thought the first routine felt forced once he started the second routine. The whole thing felt awkward to me. His profile on the Cincinnati Ballet website says that he teaches and choreographs in his spare time. So I very much believe that the first routine was a staged fakeout that fell flat.

It's a perfectly fine kill-a-rainy-Saturday-afternoon-laying-about-and-watching-movies type of flick.

Does Zou Bisou Bisou count in this context? It's a real song that's been around since 1960. It's not a fictional thing that was created for the episode.

I don't remember anyone saying last week that the election was a week away. I don't doubt that it's there, I probably just missed it. But this week it was mentioned a few times that the election is four days away. That puts it in the finale episode.

Here's what I don't get about Derek getting to steamroll over everyone and put Karen in the lead. Wasn't it a whole big thing when they brought back creepy stalker guy to play DiMaggio that contractually, Julia and Tom as a united front get to make the call? But Tom flipped to the other side, allowing stalker guy into

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus Was Rory written as "sassy," though? There were moments scattered throughout the show where she lost her cool or fought with Lorelai, but yelling at people and having an attitude wasn't her norm. Overall she was pretty reserved and uncomfortable with expressing emotions.

@Automocar I think of it as the Cary Elwes Effect. A subpar actor can be made to appear more talented by being put in the right part. The only thing Cary Elwes has ever been good in was The Princess Bride. You might be able to make an argument for Robin Hood: Men in Tights as well. But anything else I've ever seen him

I'm not generally much of a fan of them, but 90's Canadian band The Headstones is good for burning off angry energy. If I do need to burn some off, I'll crank them up on my iPod and go for a run.

I have to admit to laughing more than I should have at Chloe asking if January Jones is a robot. Keirnan Shipka at 12 years old is already a much better actress than January Jones will ever be.

@TURK SCRUBSIER No kidding. It really isn't saying much. The good shows up here are few and far between, and when we do have them, no one watches them. (Fuck you, CBC, for cancelling Michael Tuesdays & Thursdays.)

The Canadian show Durham County was created by women from top to bottom. The majority of the producer and director credits are women, and all the writer credits are. The show isn't without flaws, but it's one of the best shows Canada has put out in the last 10 years.
