Actually I liked that—he bad-mouthed her because of some petty grievance, but she actually did turn out to be a bitch. Good stuff.

That was the goofiest moment in the whole series, I think. One of the valets gets outed. Not only do they not fire him, he gest promoted. What-the-fuck-ever.

She's also old—it's been a decade, Mary must be over 30 by now—and has a kid. And with a million young Englishmen dead, you'd think it's a buyer's market for the ones that aren't.

I don't know, his financial buffoonery is a pretty good running gag.

You know, people say Season 1 is better than what followed, and I do agree, but it's funny how much of the plot of that season was driven by the ridiculous plot contrivance of a perfectly healthy young man croaking for no reason.

So, that storyline where Daisy's father-in-law wanted her to take over the farm—completely forgotten?

She's got a nice rack. And as a character she's far more interesting than Mary.

Thomas and O'Brien dicked with people for no reason for most of the run of the series. And it seems obvious that they've brought back this Edna character that I can't remember for the life of me to replace O'Brien.

I have watched every episode and I absolutely cannot remember a maid who came on to Branson. My wife also thought that character was the one who made kissy faces with Lord Grantham.

None of them are aging. Daisy should be pushing 30 by now.

It did seem duller than I remember it. Of course, when the main plot points are "will Lady Mary who is living in the lap of luxury anyway inherit a lot of money or a metric butt-ton of money" and "will Carson help this old guy we don't care about get a job", it really is dull.

I'm going to downvote you now.

Gotta love the British aristocracy, hiring people to raise their children so they can sit on their asses all day.

Yep, like when she ruined Edith's relationship, or when she dumped Matthew after thinking she didn't need him to secure the estate, what a sweetheart.

Not sure where you think you get off, telling someone else that they don't get a character just because they don't like that character as much as you do. Lady Mary is a bitch. Humanized to some degree by her relationship with Matthew, but a bitch.

When you aren't screaming it at the top of your lungs like Hitler did, anyway.

And now that I actually watched the show, our heroine's supervisor actually made that point about GT WEIGH: "He knew what he was getting into." The best way to not get executed for espionage is to not spy for the enemy.

Oh, they're cheaper? Well, that explains it.

Edith's got a great rack, though, makes up for the nose.

Oh man, that's a perfect summation. Edwardian "Melrose Place" indeed.
