Oh, and I would never do it while watching WITH someone. That's just rude.

And I never felt like I missed anything by fast-forwarding through Jack's sex scenes with Bai Ling. Or the kite-flying scene. Or any flashback scene in this episode. And if I missed any thematic value to Jack's story in the season three finale, I wouldn't know (or necessarily care). Jack is just not that…
Yes yes yes. This exactly (your Smallville and Supernatural example, that is—-stupid Disqus)
In some cases, yes. I can't really explain it. It's not just this show; I do it to others as well. But it's more like…once the scene starts, there's a sense that it's going to bore me (or in some extreme cases, trigger an issue in me), so I start forwarding through. It really depends on the show, the characters,…
I'm just amused no one else noticed, or if they did, said anything.
I'm not sure how to answer that second question. I knew it was boring because…it was boring me. So I fast-forwarded. And yes, I did it a lot with Jack and Kate's flashbacks. There are just some moments when I know I'm not going to care, so I skip past. So far I can't tell that I've missed much.
Maybe they just haven't had a good part for him yet. Most of their guest characters are one-offs; if they do eventually get O'Quinn, they damn well better give him something more than Case of the Week. Or at least make it a DAMN GOOD case of the week.
Yeah, I stopped reading him when he went to Hitfix, because they did get much shorter. I don't know how many shows he's covering now, so I imagine there's less time for him to go in-depth, but that was one of the reasons I liked him so much. Also, Hitfix's site navigation sucks.
If it bores the crap out of me, yes. Jack's flashbacks are rarely interesting. I would fast-forward through some of Kate's too. Surprisingly, I didn't through Sayid's, though I remember not caring for them the first time I watched. His weren't as dull as I thought.
Especially since it's not the 18th yet.
So it looks like you already found what you were looking for, but if you're interesting in other Lost reviews, Sepinwall still has some of his on his old "What's Alan Watching" blog. He was posting while the show was airing. I think he started about mid-season two or so, and the early ones are nested within some…
I don't think they were making bad episodes on purpose, but they definitely were spinning their wheels, and wanted the network to understand that more episodes like it would be made without a clear direction. You can maybe argue they should have been able to work around that, but look at X-Files…the longer it went…
I wasn't watching when it aired, but I think I was reading Sepinwall and Television Without Pity, and I remember people bitching about it because of the promo build-up. Apparently, the promo people were touting "Strangers" as being the episode to answer THAT BURNING QUESTION …only to have it be about the stupid…
And even further down the road, with LaFleur.
And god knows Rousseau isn't the most reliable person for validation. When Crazy French Lady says she believes you, it might be good to take stock of what exactly you and she believe.
They did seem like she was important; a spiritual leader of some type. One of the many rabbit trails in the series…
I laughed so, so hard at the meteor hitting the chicken shack. I love that they took the absolute least likely event to happen and made it happen. It was so absurd it was wonderful.
Fourth best. You forgot Ben. :p
I won't use the word adorable, but I do kind of like Alexander in Deep Space Nine. The writers finally wrote him the way we all viewed him—-a complete and total dork. (And no, he was not adorkable, either.)
Person of Interest…I was going to say "comes close", but it doesn't, not really. It satisfies the sci-fi/action for me, but not the fantasy. Grimm doesn't have the "OMG" factor. Supernatural…eh.
