No it was rightfully ignored. It was a bore. I picked that up for movie night one week and the entire room was of the opinion that it was the most mediocre thing they had ever seen.

Ichi the Killer was stupid. There is no better way to put it. The only remarkable thing about that movie was the use of real spunk in the opening scene.
Granted the version of the film I saw had missing subtitles.
