It's one of my all-time favorite movies. You should read this incredible article in VANITY FAIR about the history of the movie and it's influence, how it was shot, and the legacy of it. The reporter interviews the entire cast and its just incredible. Barkin and Stern were at each others throats, Reiser was leaving

Nice to see this show here on AV Club. Just was reminded of it recently when here in MInneapolis at the big SF convention CONvergence, Marina Sirtis came and did a live reading with some local actors of a script from the show. The room was packed. GARGOYLES is a show I always admired, even if I didn't get to see

Great call. I forgot about that, and I have White Palace (the book) on my bookshelf and know some people who were in the wedding scene. I think the scene in the grocery store was shot at a Schnucks. I know the Thanksgiving scenes were shot at a house on Conway.
I met the author, Glenn Savan, at a party once and

Hey @CarolineSiede where'd you go to high school? Also, you can't leave out the fact that @willharrisinva:disqus uses a song by Chuck Berry as his choice, and he's from our hometown and still plays at Blueberry HIll in the U. City Loop every month. Meet Me in St. Louis is a wonderful movie and show—my mom took my

I enjoyed the book as light entertainment, its fun and the idea that 80's culture become the most important and coolest knowledge to have in the 2040's is funny, but I did think you could swap some 90's stuff for the 80's stuff and it wouldn't have made any difference.
Some of the dialogue is bad—but in thinking

Yes, yes I am. The more Tigra, the better. Meow!

As a HUGE Tigra fan, and a fan of this series so far, I am looking forward to seeing her in this. This has become a great book already.

Very glad you reviewed this series Todd. While I didn't always agree with your opinions, I learned a lot more about the series after reading this, following the links you included, and going back and looking at things in the book. The comments from other AV Club members have been really educational and interesting

An underrated and often hilarious show. Great ensemble cast, one of the best TV theme songs of all time, and, Yes, Bailey was hotter than Jennifer.
I think the banner photo for this article is from the episode where the staff writes, produces, and sings a commercial jingle they made for a local funeral home and

While I think you're right that John Shea is underrated and forgotten by many as a great Lex, and Margot Kidder had her charms, I have to agree with @OliverSava that Clancy Browns voice is the one I hear in my head whenever I'm reading Lex and that he's probably the best ever Lex Luthor.
The same applies to Dana

Since very few people are commenting on this article, I guess I will. Since the New 52 started, I have been telling people that this is my favorite book in DC. It surpassed the Lantern books. Geoff Johns took on the challenge of making this perpetually "uncool" character—at least ever since The State did that sketch

The highlight sketch was "Bachelorette Disaster" all the way. The confirmation of these women as "the worst", the disdain Chief Amy had as she help up the "dickie sippie", the subtitles underneath the speakers commenting on the disaster, the description of the ridiculous goblet, the fact that both drivers killed

It was a brutal and long winter this year, but its not always that way, its great here from May to November. And I'm not even a native, I moved here from L.A. There's a lot of very cool stuff here to do (in the Twin Cities) and be a part of.

"Can't anybody play this here game?"

So glad VanDerWerff used that selection from BASEBALL. It's a blast.

I didn't think Wheaton "hammed" it up there when he was talking with Penny about his acting life. I think he played that straight, and it was great. It wouldn't surprise me if he helped the writers with that. His career peaked when he was younger, and he did a classic movie and worked with amazingly talented people

I would have to say, if Chris Meloni's name came up on the TV from Caller ID in the middle of SVU, and you don't take it as a religious sign, you obviously are not a member of the Church of Dick Wolf. That's awesome. Oh, and can I get that number?

Wow. Thinking about it that way, I completely see what you're saying, and I think that you make a lot of great points.
Right from the start of this show with the image of Odin wandering the battlefield, I wondered why they were having Ragnar see a vision like that, in this show which is happening in the "real

Thrilled to read this Random Roles. Great stuff from an actor who truly paid his dues. Glad that Harris got to GREEN LANTERN:First Flight. I thought the chemistry between him and Victor Garber was great in that, and now I can see that part of it came from them working together in the same studio at the same time on

An underrated song, that I sometimes can't believe was written in 1973 as its so driving with its feel of hard-rock, and to think it came from Elton John when you compare it to the things written and performed by him over the last 25 years kind of stuns me when I really think about it. The guitar in it is simply no
