K, I figured out why the white alien dude kills everyone, I think.  If the white-alien DNA mixed with black ooze eventually replicates itself exactly, even if it takes a few billion years of environment-dependent evolution, then the black ooze must have some sort of intelligent design to it.

I didn't like Girls any more or less as a result, but the viewing experience felt different not having come off a new Game of Thrones this week.  I guess I'd gotten used to that very jarring adjustment.

Yeah, my main issue with the movie, which I liked, is that her cesarean section as well as the zombification of her husband are totally non-consequential to the overall story.  Nearly half of the movie is devoted to this thread which leads nowhere, with the only minor exception being that the squid alien pops back in

Guy Pearce's habit of squeezing himself into every movie (e.g., The Road, Hurt Locker) has perhaps reached its apotheosis.

Yes. And then a few billion years of evolution later the exact genetic code of those aliens reappears in humanity.  That's impossible!  That would be like if a turkey evolved to become a triceratops again.

So the primordial ooze from which all Earth life originates eventually led to humanity, which just happens to share the exact same genetic code as these white aliens?  Is that actually what the film suggests?

Elizabeth Shaw performing an emergency self-cesarean section sure takes Jack Shephard down a notch. Self-appendectomy, was it? uh-huh. But your appendix didn't try to kill you afterwards?

I can still remember the feeling of gratification when, after catching the end of one half-episode, another half-episode title would appear (and not the end credits).

She said she'd stay, but then the Hound gave her his "killer" speech, which seemed to change her mind.  But whatevs.

I'm willing to reserve most of my judgment till next week.  I feel like this episode was about sudden events (look at that amazing scene where Lane is fired—I would've thought he'd be gradually found out over several scenes if not episodes) while proper aftermath will be given next week (I think Don will have to tell
