There's also the implication of class - the cultivated Received Pronunciation of the British upper class is associated with education and wealth so it's an easy way to differentiate 'Roman' high society from the common vulgar (in both senses of the word) voices of slaves and plebes.

I would love Ayoade too but he'd be pretty similar to Matt Smith - they may want a more unique take on the character.

He's been all over British TV. He was also one of the best things about the uneven 'You, Me and the Apocalypse' last year and 'Survivors' a few years back.

I think it's mid-December - we had a six month jump after the David Copperfield ep (late April) and The Day After aired in November 1983 (real time) and a couple weeks ago in show time.

They still use it - note ep. 6(?) ended with a montage with "Under Pressure".

It's a fried chicken chain kind of like Popeye's. In some states they're branded together with Hardee's and sell burgers as well.

As Stan put it to Gregory's subordinate in season 1, "we're a lot different. But at least we're goddamn Americans, right?" There's a difference between committing a small, relatively harmless crime for what you think is the mob and helping your country's sworn enemy.

It's up there with handing over their colleague's innocent wife to the Center for execution in season 1.

Depends on which church you went to. I grew up in Catholic churches filled with Caribbean immigrants and gospel was there along with Calypso and reggae-influenced hymns. Friends of my parents founded the Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Gospel Choir in the 70s and it's still going strong.

1. Madonna was terrible - off-key, stilted and emotionally stiff.

I would say Stevie Wonder's cover of "We Can Work It Out" is even better than the original.

It's one of the movies my father-in-law and I both will watch at any time - which is a happy medium between my love of dark comedy and his love of romcoms.

It wasn't Girls, it was Gilmore Girls which made it even funnier.

I thought that Emery and Audrey were going to hook up by the end of the episode, considering their multiple shared interests and the recent emphasis on him entering puberty.

The look on Dolorous Edd's face was just "oh, so this is happening…"

No one living in NYC goes to Times Square unless absolutely necessary (seeing a show at a theater). It's built for and filled with tourists who come to say they've been there and seen the sights.

I don't think that Brightborn is making infertile women fertile, but rather passing off their experimental children as successful IVFs - note how Cosima said that they all have dimples, suggesting relation between kids that would have no explainable connection.

The Slate podcast today was with FX's head of programming. He clearly loves the show despite its terrible ratings and is closely involved in its making. He's confirmed that there will be at least 5 and maybe 6 seasons and that the showrunners will know well ahead of time so they can plan a proper ending.

I can easily see him doing exactly that.
