I also kind of like her working somewhat at odds with Team Arrow. She was at her most compelling tonight in the scenes with Nyssa working against Oliver, and I wouldn't mind seeing her onscreen (me a year ago is screaming right now seeing those words) if that's the direction they continue in with the character.

Although I did like the scene where Barry was like, "Hey Felicity, when your show gets cancelled, why don't you come and be a series regular over here?" and "Felicity was like, "Sure, a crossover character forming a season 7 love triangle always saves a show!"

Still though, I thought it was a little odd that no one mentioned that the cohesiveness of the dish was likely due at least in part to the fact that one person was in a leadership role. Not a bad strategy, especially with the shaky track record of her teammates.

The pilot deserved that C (actually, it deserved to be taken out back and shot), but this show has had one of the quickest turnarounds from unwatchable to legitimately enjoyable in recent memory. If you can get through the pilot and the somewhat rocky (but less so than the pilot) second episode, it's definitely

Yeah, the source material is an unfortunate relic but the show does seem to be realizing fairly quickly that it doesn't have to be tied to that.

I am so happy she got a spotlight episode this early. All of these background character spotlight episodes are great for making the show feel like it has a universe to exist in.

I'm ready to call it as this being one of the best new shows of the season (abysmally idiotic name and all), and I'm glad I stuck with it through the pilot. I'm really liking how they've eased up on that whole "Henry yoda-ing Eliza" aspect, because that was the part of the pilot that worked the least (and was the

They have the exact same jawline, and they carry themselves similarly. Probably not identical twins, but definitely related.

Oh, I thought he was about to make some reveal like he could have saved Ronnie but didn't, or there was more to the story than Ronnie just being a hero, but stayed quiet because friendship. But maybe you're right, and it was just glossing over his guilt (in which case I actually don't mind moving past it quickly,

I don't have a problem with filler, but "give the reveal to the audience in the first scene and then spend three acts waiting for the characters to catch up" is such a tired structure for an episode.

Well, to be fair, didn't Buffy show up in one of the first few episodes of Angel to let everyone know it was okay to like this show?

But I think Blais brings out the worst in her. Has she always seemed this gossipy?

At this point, considering his Emmy/Tonys track record, NPH is about the safest hosting choice anyone could go for, but I'm not even mad about that because he really is a lot of fun in that role.

I was just watching that scene, and the chemistry between the two actors really made the incompatible sexual orientation of the characters quite unfortunate. I would be very pleased if Naya showed up as a love interest on Flash.

I'm glad that there's a new competing superhero show for everyone to compare unfavorably to the CW's shows, since AoS has apparently gotten better (not that I've watched AoS or Gotham, but I feel like I should in order to complain about them properly).

That's an interesting point about Eliza fighting for acceptance from traditionally unpopular women. I think Selfie is walking a tricky line right now where it's exploring all these different kinds of female characters and trying to figure out how to do so without being disrespectful but still making them funny. Bitch

It seems to have to do with the need for a high concept premise to get picked up, but once the show's been renewed, they can drop the premise and just do a fun hangout sitcom. But even though hangout sitcom is often more fun to watch and more in line with the writers' talents, it's harder to sell (and even when it

How does a show "earn" black humor? Selfie has shown it's not afraid of the melancholy or of leaning in to something more outlandish, and, to me, that kind of quirky, ambitious joke is exactly the kind of thing that gives me hope that a show will get better than its atrocious premise.

I think even that could be excused if it wasn't compounded by her absolute passivity. But she just never does anything, which is incredibly frustrating when the supposedly powerful witch is a straight damsel in distress. You can have active and tangential to the plot (Jenny) or passive and central to the plot

Considering how godawful those promotional materials are, I'd call that a rousing success for them.
