The novelization was written by Marc Platt so is really very good.. And surely Downtime is viewable on Youtube?

Another unappreciated feature of the the Sly McCoy era.. making UNIT seem more international, as well as more muscular (and bullets worked well against Morgaines troops!). And with accurate blue berets!
I really find myself unable to believe that the UN objected enough to UNIT for the Beeb to change it… I mean, it's

The only real negatives I could find here were that the resolution was a leeeeetle convenient and yes, that third of the population was dead for way longer than they should have been to allow a nice normal recovery. But those issues can be ignored by me due to the character work. I'm less willing to forgive the fact

Like how a half dozen Roundheads could stall a convoy that's supposedly rolling hot for an hour or two.. sigh.
Of course, in a world with UNIT in it, it then makes it a little odd when we have an earth invasion story that does NOT involve UNIT, or even a mention of UNIT - I got a little nervous when 'The Eleventh

I've always enjoyed UNIT, for various reasons.. I like the everyman/squaddie perspective as opposed to the loftiness of the Official Companions, I'm pro-UN, and maybe I just like playing soldier. Now if only they hadn't gotten repeatedly clobbered by gangsters in 'Ambassadors of Death'..

Hang on, now… the Doc himself set it up so that the missiles would track Solomons ship! That's… not passive!

It was only last week that we saw the Doctor execute his opponent. Which kinda took away from some of the moral dilemma that was supposed to be the centerpiece of the episode. Perhaps Amy was more 'humane' this week cos Kahler Jax didn't shoot a dinosaur in front of her?
And the Doctor may have forgotten, but his

Well, off the top of my head… he hands the villain explosives in the conclusion of the Ribos Operation, electrocutes a technician in The Sunmakers before he even knows whats going on, sets lethal traps twice in Vengeance on Varos, sets up the machine to blow in The Mutants… and that's just humans! I'm

I was referring to the Christmas Invasion, where Ten helps the Sycorax commander leave the ship..

Not just that, but DAVROS is trying to make him feel guilty.. and it's WORKING!!
