you guys are obviously as faun of a good pun as i am.

okay, i see what you mean, but the English, as i said, is good, meaning that you're not constantly thinking "maybe that just doesn't translate." i cringed far less often with Suspect X than the other translated novels i've read recently, so i think that comment is a might picky.

my understanding is that there is a series of novels (which inspired a tv/movie series) featuring the genius physicist Yukawa as the crime solver, only one of which has been translated into English. as far as the Suspect X novel, both of the detectives are male, so i don't know if the police involved vary from book

romance is dead, Todd.

i agree with the grade
and the ending, which failed to have the intended impact (wow, he finally *shows* an emotion!) and took away from the book as a whole.

oh, and Ross has ridiculous beats/producers. all he has to do is not fuck up too bad and he's got a hit.

what StraightNate said- the two solo Nicki tracks that i hear on the radio are seriously fucking horrendous. i mean, like, beyond laughably bad.

wiz khalifa is terrible. i wouldn't say gucci is a *great* rapper, but at least he *sounds* like a rapper, whereas wiz has ZERO presence on the mic (judging that on four songs, but i've heard one of them 1000+ times…). drake isn't that great, either, but at least his lyrics are occasionally clever.

lord, i used to see that dude at a diner in arlington all the time- he thinks he's pretty cool.

lexicondevil- fair enough, and while vowell is great at mining ostensibly dry history for real humanity and drama, i just don't feel she made her point that clearly with TWS. maybe a reread would be helpful, but her style of writing has become very predictable to me and snark wears thin quickly (for the record, i

Daisy, if you didn't find TWS engaging, UF isn't gonna be any better. like the two discs of wu-tang forever, both should have been cut in half and put together to form one superior book, because there's not enough good material to support each individually.

so he rocked an answer that was right on time?

will oldham
what about the interview where he insists the interviewer keeps calling him "push" and ends up making the dude cry? i think he's supposed to be "difficult" to speak to in general.

the smiths - london
was the first song i remember memorizing and considering my favorite. i was damn young, but have siblings who are a bit older. really, though, it could also have been "born in the usa," as i recall listening to it on a boombox on the porch when the album came out and loving that song.

no, no, she was just using dropped tuning- don't you know anything about music?

actually, wingnut, this sounds an *awful* lot like a scientologist tirade, despite the fact that he apparently called the religion "silly"

bedhead- what fun life was
that or spiritualized's LAGWAFIS

or maybe his head could land in a dude's lap and suck dick for an hour and a half, just like the musical

i thought scott stapp vs 311 was pretty good

norm, i remember someone dissecting one of his longer posts and showing where he cut-and-pasted a bunch of shit from wikipedia, so i lean towards gimmick. of course, since i don't actually read the posts….
