the bigger issue
why did rapaport shoot all those people in arizona?

i'm guessing those are people you corner on the street who look at you with fear in their eyes, because you're obviously crazy.

hey, the forever war! good effing book. there's an anime that uses a few of the same ideas called voices of a distant star that's pretty decent, if short.

i agree with the fact that the black-eyed pea suck, but not with the part that there was ever an interesting premise- unless maybe their transition from somewhat socially-conscious to minstrel show is some sort of andy kaufman-style joke.

it's like getting one of those movies that looks so bad that it'll be fun, then finding out it's a troma film and it's intentionally bad and unwatchable.

i'm with ignignot- that was the only time i've found jack black likable.

i wasn't sure if i was missing something due to lack of coffee, but that had me concerned for a second.

showtime for democracy
kennedys, dead

i read a massive amount of books when i was younger, but the only stuff that really stands out as favorites were Beverly Cleary books and White Fang. started reading my older brother's Stephen King way too young and then transitioned into sci-fi/fantasy after fifth grade.

David Wiesner's Art & Max
is the most well-illustrated (and trippy) children's book i've seen in a long time. Flotsam, which won the Caldecott a few years back, is also really good. not familiar with a lot of stuff on the list, but glad to see another nod for Adam Rex and his excellent The True Meaning of Smekday.

et tu, ryan?

"man in my basement" sounds like some weird colloquialism- "man in my basement, but you shoulda seen that bear!"

not only does this sound terrible
the jacket design has already been done.

i've been playing my way through all of the doom/doom 2 games recently and have had a lot of fun, mainly because the controls on the newer games are too complicated for a turn-based strategy gamer like myself.

the last few years in -the 1001 video games you must play before you die- are loaded with FPS titles. why you MUST play like four different call of duty games is beyond me, however (filler, i know).

ape, are you thinking of wes studi? he was the *scary* motherfucker in that film.

cookie_monster, you're right- that's why i said "as we've known it"

i actually liked the way the magicians ended and am concerned that the sequel will spoil what i thought was an excellent story. i'll read it anyway, of courseā€¦

It's merely a handful of people in a tiny room trying to blow the hell out of one another
i'll pass, thanks.

in my top three last year. try describing it as "holden caulfield goes to hogwarts."
