Fair point.

But yes, all those things are true too.

It's better than Fast & Furious.

I have so many problems with the first film from a narrative perpective within the first half hour. And that's probably the biggest one is that he really at no point even remotely earned being captain. Also, actually showing how Kirk beat the Kobayashi Maru makes me wonder if everyone involved understands basic

I'm within a year of you, didn't have cable at the time and listened to the radio sporadically, and even I couldn't avoid that song/video.

I always hate the "more Star Wars" line of reasoning when it comes to Abrams, unless it's along the lines of "watched Return of the Jedi about 10x more than A New Hope or Empire." Sort of like how his style is wholly indebted to Spielberg but watched stuff like Last Crusade, Jurassic Park, and Hook more than ET,

Would that even make his top 5?

Shouldn't that really bother people hearing something like that come from a writer by trade?

I like Zoe Saldana but dislike/hate most action roles she's taken which have nothing to do with her and more with the regressive attitudes/ideas of the guys who are writing for her.

Plus the credited screenwriters are Pegg and some dude who doesn't have a Wikipedia page and not the normal Bad Robot team. I didn't particularly think highly of the trailer but it seemed like they were trying to play up aspects of the last two films and it just wasn't meshing. At least I hope that's the case.

It's sort of like Marvel and helicarriers.

The problem you run into is the very first film: the Enterprise wasn't Kirk's command to start. He doesn't have that attachment at all.

Well, that's good, we can't afford a $50 gift card.

Ugh, yeah, it depresses me too. I just can't support Hilary in the slightest and inevitability of her nomination via the mainstream media outlets had just made me disconnect from this political cycle. The Republicans trying to one up each with hate filled horribleness has made me hopelessly bitter on top of that.

Or Gene Ha on the Authority (which I sort of blame for kind or derailing Ha's career a bit). I have bunch like that: Wildcats 3.0, Steampunk, Quantum & Woody, a lot more if I really thought it through.

It was like Joe Biden not running because it was too late to launch an effective campaign. Leaving the GOP clown car of horribleness aside, the mainstream media outlets are effectively ignoring Sanders hoping he'll vanish, Clinton is basically making puff public appearances, and poor O'Malley is just trying to stay

Suzie Kolber is unimpressed.

…Magic the Gathering, Warhammer, Beanie Babies…

Or take place in the state of New York (no, I've never heard of Buffalo, why do you ask?).
