I'm basically going to ESPN now to read Zach Lowe…and I actually read the comments there (which are just linked to their FB post, I guess) and the first dozen or so comments are (rightfully) lamenting the demise of Grantland for page clarity alone.

Ugh, I saw some people posting Carson's "no Supreme Court judge should practice Sharia Law" when asked about Muslims in specific positions. I mean, how would that even work? Personally I'd be impressed with the judge for playing the long game like that.

Is that true?

Although some McDuffie's most important work was viewed (and is still viewed) by a lot of people, but of course due to the medium, very few people actually know his involvement (or hell, anyone's creative involvement).

Arrowsmith is relatively dull but a lot of that has to do with it only being the first six issues of a much longer story.

Every DC character works best outside of DC continuity.

TheT'Challa/Namor interactions are one of the primary reasons to read New Avengers and the payoff of their relationship now is great.

This always cracks me up because Hickman was so passive aggressively annoyed with Bendis on Twitter because Bendis decided to ignore a Phoenix egg plot line that was relatively important to Secret Wars and Hickman had to add it on really short notice to Avengers as a subplot.o

Wait…actual current Cyclops or what Marvel thinks current Cyclops is?

Definitely agree in both fronts. But then both Marvel and DC have been catering to that base of fans for awhile and their ideas of branching out are pretty damn limited when you get down to it. I have a lot of thoughts on the trajectory of the comics industry, which have been a running theme in the comments section

Him working hard at what he does isn't really the point. Especially in Hollywood, having as many doors that are opened for him by circumstance of birth is more than half the battle in his chosen profession. He obviously took advantage of opportunities given to him but he started out significantly ahead of anyone

It's not a relatively hard thing to do, at least I don't think it is. Really all you need to do is have him relate to different people in his life on a personal level as bot Clark and Superman. Basically just have him be a person instead of some kind of unapproachable symbol.

The unwieldy nature of decades long continuity for one character is problematic enough, it becomes an even bigger issue when a publisher decides that dozens of titles all have to adhere to the same exact continuity.

Basically the Dwayne McDuffie model: be observant of the shared universe but not bound by it.

This reminds me of the Ellen Page/Michael Cera interaction in Juno: "You're cool and you don't even try."

I was making hipster popular before they were jokes.

That doesn't erase her exposure to Synergy though.

I have no idea what this song is but that sounds like a really weird path to take the narrative, and kind of toxic.

…and then you never talk to this person ever again.

When you look at the crew credits, it's obvious that this was a pretty cynically made movie.
