Ah, my bad then. It's been a while since I've seen it and I'm mostly remembering being very frustrated at how shallowly Elinor was portrayed and the "all men are buffoons" scene. The movie has no arc without Elinor insisting on the marriage and the movie doesn't have the balls to really go into detail on why a women

I would have respected Brave so much more if it had had the guts to actually go into some of the historical reasons why Merida would have had to get married. Have Elinor talk about alliances. Have Elinor imply that she didn't entirely choose her own marriage. Make Elinor sympathetic about Merida's feelings.

No, I get that but aren't the Goddess and Devi the same outfit with recolored skin? I though those outfits were supposed to be Kali-inspired because of the crown and skulls. I hadn't seen those on depictions of Shiva before so I'm honestly interested in learning about it.

I thought Symmetra's skins were inspired by but not directly representative of Kali. I haven't heard people think she was dressed as Shiva before.

I had a friend in college who pretended she was passed out in her boyfriend's room at a frat party because she wanted to go to sleep and it was the only way he'd leave her alone. She got to hear a unsettling number of bros suggest he "take advantage of that".

You are right that terrifying is hyperbolic, but the billboard is a very frustrating issue. We just went through this last year when they stuck a Green Inferno ad (the one with the screaming bloodied women with her hair being pulled out by a mob) there for months. It's easy to say "just don't pay attention" when

Oh no, I fully agree with the people who have an issue with the misogyny in this poster. But the poster is also just plain inappropriate and stupid. It can be two things.

It's very infuriating that people defending Turner are pushing the narrative that if a woman gets drunk and gets raped then she deserved it for not protecting her body enough or some rot. However, if a man gets drunk and rapes someone then it's not his fault; he wasn't in control and shouldn't held fully responsible.

My problem is with that poster in that location and with that poster in any other location where children routinely gather, which Fox clearly doesn't care about at all. I support the kids over some multi-million dollar corporation of jerks.

Except they did place it in that location and that's the problem. These kids should have the right to play soccer in peace. They shouldn't have to be exposed to a terrifying image they don't understand for weeks.

They put one of these ads directly next to my local rec center where the kindergartners play soccer. They have no idea who the characters are. Quite a few of them think Mystique is a guy because of the short-ish hair. All they know is that's a giant billboard of a big person hurting a smaller person and it freaks

Good. They put one of these ads directly next to the local rec center where all the kindergartners can stare at it during soccer practice. None of the little kids know what's going on in it and it freaks them out. I'm glad this means they'll finally be removing it.

You can't see it in the photo but the womens' armor also has giant wedge heels. Much like dinosaurs and elephants, girls do everything on their tip-toes.

Yeah, I don't think having Peggy's death and Steve and Sharon kissing in the same movie was the best idea. It just really hammered home that connection. There were quite a few people in my theater making creeped out noises during the kiss.

I love the book deeply but it does tend to treat the does more as desirable property then actual characters. I don't think that's intentional - by the time the does come into the story Adams is more interested in exploring Efrafa and the rabbits' escape and the plot starts to really get moving. Making Strawberry a

Making one of the characters a doe really doesn't change their reasons for going to Efrafa and Strawberry was always a bit of a non-character. I just hope they also increase Hyzenthlay's character.

In her original story, Adler is an adventuress, but she's not a criminal nor does she really want anything to do with Holmes. Her entire story is that she wants to get married to the man she loves and ensure her former lover leaves her alone. I've always loved her story because she gets to win and walk away -pretty

As a kid, I always though it was just a pun between the word supplies and the word surprise.

Reading this reminds me of watching an interview with John Inman who played the gay Mr. Humphries in Are You Being Served, which started in 1972. Inman, who is gay himself, talked about how Mr. Humphries is considered a very stereotypical character today but at the time the show was being written gay men were usually
