I mean, the Web probably cuts people's general prep and research time in half (at least), so it sort of balances the time during which it distracts them. But, alas, as a late Internet bloomer myself, I can't even fathom it. I was still using a Word Processor till halfway through college. Can you even buy those anymore?

Goldeneye and Mario Kart also ruined me. RUINED ME!

Ha.

I had 15 minutes with him. Generally speaking, sitcom creators allot you more time than Oscar nominees :)

Sean speaks the truth. I exclusively blame the first incarnation of this game for dragging down my GPA in 1997.

I've never been put off by how Hank's lifestyle is portrayed. I kind of took the leap and accepted the character and his world, and his place in it. That said, sometimes it just doesn't have a great storytelling economy, and possibly because it's never quite clear where its characters are headed. But for a show that

I'm starting to think that maybe those flashbacks actually foreshadow Hank and Karen coming back full circle the right way. Love can be a long and strange journey. Then again, we have a whole 'nother season next year. But, for the most part, this season's also proved Californication can be a good to great show without

If you liked this ep, consider going back and revisiting it from the beginning. This is more the rule than the exception.

Amen, Phodreaw. It's a fun ride.

I definitely agree that it's the best ep of the season. Just a few points off for some small details. And I never thought an ep could be this good without more of the whole ensemble, but I also didn't expect them to really give Hank and Karen's backstory more depth. Good, funny, well-considered stuff.

Not quite firsties on that one.

Not sure that's true.

He was surprisingly not very tall.

He's the gristler.

I believe he was always involved in some bad things. Actually, purely objectively, the Bio doc's pretty interesting and comprehensive if you can find it online.

Roark, I hear ya, but in fairness, those are comedians or comedic actors who are probably pretty in touch with that kind of stuff.

Absolutely nothing.

As a bizarre twist to this interview, I appeared as a "talking head" or what have you on Woody's Bio Channel doc a while back, discussing his father's history, among other things. I very purposely did not bring this up during our conversation.

He's pretty gristly in this.
