"Great Guns", Fox's attempt to cash in on the success of "Buck Privates," is already on DVD.  It is worth watching if, and perhaps only if, you already like Laurel and Hardy (e.g. you like them even when they are struggling with an idiotic script and bad direction).

It is difficult to do film comedy in any era.  I can't think of more than five 2000-2010 comedies that I really love.  Any other decade is roughly the same.

Although I like Visconti, I kind of hate him for making his movies so long.  It vastly reduces the "potential gateway" factor in my mind—- as much as I like "Rocco and his brothers", you won't find me trying to sell anyone on a three hour movie (I recall "The Leopard" and "La Terra Trema" also being quite long).  I

That last beat in "Be My Baby" is more than a "THUMP"; there's a snare in it.

I've mentioned this before, and I'll probably mention it again.  Beginning a multi-subject article with a photo that has no captions or source info is a minor pet peeve.  I'm in suspense until I find out what the photo is from by reading the article (if I *do* find that out— occasionally you forget to mention it).

…Yuppies?  What era is this?  I seriously want to know—- I've got tons of great jokes about fax machines, and how the Japanese own everything.  They're all ready to go.

That's odd—- I *only* watch it for the generic humor about foreign lands and minorities.

The Shatner "Tambourine Man" cover is #2 in my book to Sebastian Cabot's "Like a Rolling Stone."

The Rachael Ray hate comes largely from the following places:

I don't know who director Julie Anne Robinson is, but she stole a project clearly intended for Nia Vardalos.  The comedy, the ethnicity, the heart—- all of it should have been left in her capable hands.  And Katherine Heigl could have begun a promising career of playing Nia Vardalos roles that Nia Vardalos is too old

I wholeheartedly disagree.  Also, I would like more "skits" in between songs, more guest artists and guest producers, and if the album could end with a 15 minute posse cut, so much the better.

The same goes for standup comedy, not just music.

I think Harvester is long overdue for a remake.  Shit could be bigger than Goldeneye or Ocarina of Time.

The Academy should set aside 5 or 10 Oscars each year where they skip the whole categories and nominations and voting thing, and just issue them to movies like this.  Then nobody would have to see them.

I'm still waiting for his apology for appearing in "Judge Dredd".

Hiyooooooooo!

Do you suppose there'll ever be a Duke Nukem movie?

The people who *made* these movies don't know.  What do you want from us?

If you know "Everything is illuminated", it's just that again, with 9/11 in place of the Holocaust and the "precocious" chatter of a 9-year-old in place of hi-larious broken English
