Eh, is Riptide really all that?
I don't see how "closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer I have ever seen" is all that different from "you've got the James Dean daydream look in your eye".

Okay, I see what you're saying. I think what bugs me is the idea that some song sounding kind of like HAIM or Lana Del Rey makes it "grown up".
I do find it funny how people keep trying to spin this album as Taylor becoming "mature". Nothing on this is even close to Begin Again, All Too Well, Dear John, or Safe and Sound.
I don't really think Taylor is playing to her strengths, but I have to say this album is seriously growing on me since the first time I listened. I still think she was at her best at Fearless/Speak Now, but I see why she would want to move on.
I was concerned when I heard "Welcome to New York" the first time, but this album is really growing on me. Blank Space is so good!
I absolutely love Hurray for the Riff Raff! Look Out Mama is probably my favorite of their songs.
Not sure it's fair to compare Transformers and Expendables like that. Transformers 4 was one of the highest grossest movies this year and is now one of the highest grossing movies of all-time worldwide because it blew up in China. Which means we're definitely getting more movies with giant robots blowing stuff up in…
Alright, so I've actually really enjoyed all four of Taylor Swift's albums. And I don't even mind this song, it's catchy enough, but it's just so…generic. Any pop singer today could've released this. I wish Taylor would pursue a more refined, mature sound along the lines of Safe and Sound/All Too Well/Begin Again.…
Orphan Black! I thought the season started off great, but it was a bit disappointing how things started going off the rails at the end. The Proletheans did nothing for me, but at least we got that amazing scene where Helena approaches Sarah in the white dress out of it.
My unending fangirl adoration of Emilia Clarke and Dany help me look past her somewhat wooden acting, but I was happy to see Lena Headey recognized. She's done such a great job.
I know this stuff doesn't really matter, but damn, I really really wish Tatiana had got a nomination.
That scene was so hard to watch. Having finished season 2, I basically have the same feelings toward Suzanne and Morello now. They're both tragic characters but too dangerous and cruel. But while I liked what they did with Morello this season, I think it really hurt Suzanne's character.
Tayler Schilling is gorgeous! Surprisingly, I really really enjoyed all the scenes with Piper during her furlough. And nice use of a Waits song.
Agreed. Cindy's flashback was far from being my favorite, but it was kind of interesting to see her entire story only amounts to her being an asshole, and a really pathetic one at that.
I feel the same way. I honestly wasn't even that excited for the finale after how the season has been playing out but it blew all my expectations out of the water (even after having been spoiled for some important things).
Yeah, I thought this episode was fantastic! I think it narrowly beats The Lion and The Rose for my favorite this season.
This was the first season I watched in real time, instead of binge-watching by myself, so that might have had something to do with it. It doesn't change the fact that I didn't find this season *as* enjoyable. The pacing just felt off in some episodes.
I didn't dislike season 4, but it will probably turn out to be my least favorite for essentially the reasons you gave. I don't need every episode to have an overarching theme, but at times the episodes felt like a smorgasbord of random scenes that were only put in because they fit the time slot. There were a lot of…
Since King's Landing looks like it's starting to lose it's centrality in the overall story, and the North is gravitating more towards pure fantasy (with occasional flayings), I'm really liking watching Dany wrestle with new politcal problems as well.
That last shot of Arya sailing towards Braavos ranks among my favorite episode endings throughout the series. And the music!
