"Look at me. No, turn over, look at me! I'm the captain now!"
"Look at me. No, turn over, look at me! I'm the captain now!"
It's leftover soot from the oil right fire.
I think maybe the premise of the article is that there are only 19 instances where a remake was better than the original?
Given the comments above, I read this as the "King Kong original". Got past "It's more restrained," then was all "Wait, who the fuck was the Damon character?"
I don't think any of those analogies hold up. Apart from The Quiet Man, True Grit is John Wayne's best performance. They don't give out Lifetime Achievement Oscars for the first film you direct. And as mentioned below, Peter Jackson was hardly a much-beloved but never-awarded figure in Hollywood.
He absolutely was.
Speak for yourself. I've worked my way up to Friday night main meat grill at McDonald's because of American Beauty.
I want to get this straight. John Carpenter filmed a masterpiece. Afterwards, he did some things to fuck up the opportunity to make crappy sequels.
I've learned that instead of saying "You're wrong!", it's more polite to say "That turns out not to be the case."
You know what the title of that book should be? Yes I Can… If Frank Sinatra Says It's OK. Cuz Frank calls the shots for all those guys.
Should've ponied up for his brother.
For anyone else, Hackman's roll in The Quick and the Dead would have garnered a Supporting Actor nomination, if not a win. Instead, we're all just "Damn, he never misses."
Is that… Dean Cain?
I think that's "hipdeepsterish".
Upvote for the name Norbert Leo Butz.
No. No I cannot.
Incapable of imagining, but cool with as long as it comes with a dick.
You have pretty high standards for your coworkers' knowledge of 40-y.o. movie trivia.
My only bad trip in four tries was when friends took me to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time on my birthday. I somehow became convinced that it was an elaborate surprise party, which was fine until everyone started calling me "asshole" and asking me where my fucking neck was.
Look, Zack, I know what you're trying to do, and I respect the effort. But you're just plain wrong.
