It's good that columns like Scenic Routes are being cancelled, so we can have more room for stories like this. *rolls eyes*

A few trippy scenes, but nothing like the enjoyably disturbing, but admittedly misogynistic, novel.

The movie is a noir while the book is more realistic (I mean, James Cain's idea of realistic). I like that Mildred likes sex in the book. She has sex with her ex's best friend until she finds a guy she's actually interested in just because she doesn't want to go without.

Both she and Ray hated it for different reasons, but, damn, is it a terrific movie.

Mildred Pearce aside, the Crawford picks this article chose are crap.

The two were in competition for parts for years

Literally posted the same thing only to find you'd already said it.

I guess they figured they needed more space for Trump stories. *sigh*

I was re-enforcing a point I've made throughout the conversation. I'm sorry for misattributing it to you.

Trump carried thirty states, and you cite evidence for one. This is how you use statistics?

That isn't evidence. It might be called "confirmation bias" as it is what offends you in his record, so you assume everyone must be familiar with that record and share his sentiments.

One whole state. In the South. Yeah, that proves everyone who voted for Trump is a bigot.

South Carolina is your proof? Really?

I agree with you.

I'm not excusing their actions. But you're ignoring the states that traditionally go to Republicans because they are conservative states, you're not including information about whether people of color represented a large enough percentage in the states that went from blue to red to have made a difference in the

I never argued that, so you're right. I said most white voters didn't vote for Trump because of racism, and I pointed out that there were people of color who voted for him, too. The person canvasing for Trump on one of my campuses who tried to recruit me was Muslim.

Except that's a political event. You put TrumpSingles.com on the same level as perjury?

I don't disagree at all, but all the "everything remotely connected with Trump is bad, and we have to make story about it" only sets Trump up to probably win a second term because of the reactionary us-vs.-them mentality that unfortunately pervades our nation.

I've answered you're question. It's the economy. It's seeing the economy rebound for businesses and not for the working class.

Not by the metrics relating to how much the average person takes home. That's the giant imbalance that people responded to.
