To me, it's the opposite. Suzanne had no vulnerability before the weight gain. She was just an ice queen, and pretty dislikable. When she put on the weight, she developed comic skills, and became just campy enough to be fun, and you realized to what extent her pretense of entitlement was a defense mechanism.

Dixie Carter got tired of them, too. I'm on the fence. If Julia were a commentator here, she and I would probably hate each other. But I liked seeing her go full-blast against her opponents. Smart's character even made a joke once about how Julia would make a terrible minister because if a man came to counselling for

She created a warmth for that character that was amazing. It really isn't what she does in other roles, and it demonstrates how she gets a character right down to the minutest details.

Adore Jean Smart and loved High Society. For a while I held out hope that Lifetime or some other cable network would pick it up, or at least air the reruns. No such luck.

And…more political news. Because you're not doing your due diligence if you are an entertainment writer and not writing about Trump's SCOTUS nominee. *sigh*

I wonder if the people who like La La Land for not having a happy ending have ever checked out New York, New York.

The multiple likes you and others receive demonstrate most readers are on board with the change—or at least, among those who are clicking on them to begin with.

Polite counter-counterpoint:

Please, AV Club, STOP!!!! I have to deal with Trump because I'm a concerned citizen. I also have tons of FB notices relating to the crap he pulls and the responses people have to it. Give me one place where he's not a regular story. Give me some breathing room. Not bugged when people bring him up in the comments

She kinda prophesized Trump, didn't she? Is it too much to call her Rosemary to his antichrist? Yeah, maybe, but I said it, and I won't unsay it.

He dies because I had to get some pleasure out of sitting through that pile of crap. Let them both live under the ocean for eternity, just don't share any more of their story with us. Please.

You think I can't have much or any compassion for victims of sexual abuse because I don't see Polanski as the devil, and recognize what is atypical in this situation (like the girl involved emphatic that she was not his victim). Not true. You seem to lack compassion more than I—you only seem capable of showing

I could be wrong, but I think this march and manifesto are partially intended tongue in cheek.

She's hands-down my favorite critic.

I appreciate your distinction. It's possible for an artist or critic to be brilliant and still not care for their work. Thank you for not putting Kael down.

Are there really such different motivations between people who followed the Grateful Dead around and dubbed themselves Deadheads vs. people who follow the I.C.P. around and call themselves Juggalos? Bands attract fans. Some bands attract fans that develop a lifestyle based on their fandom. *shrug*

Did Nick Nolte narrate that, rather than Morgan Freeman?

I live in Texas where, for some reason, older women apply makeup as if they are going to be performing as clowns. So the Juggalo's actually look rather restrained to me, since they limit their palette to black and white.
