When all the money is made in the opening week the actual quality of the film is irrelevant. It could be made out of crayon on cellophane and still do well, especially as it's not scheduled against Pirates 2 the way SR was.

What's interesting is that sound is quite slow, so Superman's effective range in stopping things is actually quire small. Hence he works at a news place to find out things are happening. The Clark Kent side should be more important than he's treated.
There are fewer flaws is he's time travelling instead of spinning the world but there are problems still. The worst is the fate of the first Superman who won't then have a reason to go back in time, so there'll be two of them in existence? Unless the Universe cleans up of course.
Perhaps Superman doesn't have to be an 'action' movie. When we get down to it what people are talking about here is not 'action' but fighting.
It's just a shame the new Enterprise interiors make so little sense.
The origin story isn't compulsory. You could do a stylised thing in the credits to convey it. Now that I think about it, maybe like the alternative/flashback sequences in Kung Fu Panda 2.
