..And Then There Were Three.. has great music. Ballad Of Big has a kick-ass backing track, as does Scenes From A Night's Dream. But lyrically…oh boy, it's a stinker. Definitely their weakest 70s output.

Humor and funk/soul are two things that most prog music lacks. But this is why I love a band like Genesis so much. Lots of humor involved; Phil always said that they never liked to take themselves too seriously (one only has to look as far as Gabriel's Slipperman costume…complete with inflatable testicles). Phil and…

As a kid I was listening to Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Zappa and Rush before I even knew that there was such a genre of music as "Progressive Rock". When I did discover that there was such a thing (somewhere around 8th-9th grade) I got into groups like King Crimson, ELP, the "newer" bands like Dream Theater…and yeah,…

I got that, and all of the other Genesis re-issue box sets. Needless to say, I was like a kid on X-Mas morning when I popped in The Lamb 5.1 for the first time.

The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis is without a doubt my favorite prog rock/concept album. The story that Gabriel wrote for it is bat-shit crazy, and unlike anything anybody's ever written for any concept album (prog rock or not). He was influenced by El Topo, and he even later wrote a screenplay for The Lamb…

I always liked Genesis and Yes, but it wasn't until High School that I really dove deep into prog. I went nuts over ELP and Dream Theater. Now over 10 years later, I don't even bother with DT anymore, and I only ever put on ELP once in a blue moon. Some of that stuff just got to be too much for me. Though I'll always…
I loved the Yesyears box, especially the doc that came out with it, but man…there was always something about Run Like The Fox that made me wanna break CD3 in half.
Does anybody remember a cartoon they used to show on Pinwheel, about some (I think) French kid who didn't talk and (I think) was bald or something?
Best thing I learned all day…dude from Hey Dude works at the Toyota dealership right down the street from me! That was my favorite daytime Nick show when I was a kid….time to go bother him now.
With ELP I only ever went up to Brain Salad Surgery. Everything after that sounds terrible to me.
90125 is such a good album. Let's not forget that Trevor Horn was a Yes fan before he joined/produced the group. I think he always wanted to retain some of the proggier elements of the band ("Changes" from 90125 is a good example) whilst making it easier to swallow. Genesis did kind of the same thing in the '80s,…
