I went in with the attitude that I was going to like it for what it was rather than hate it for what it wasn't and I came out fairly happy too.

What you're talking about sounds like it's an effect of the same underlying principle in that it's an attempt by a primitive mind to understand systems far more complex than it is adapted for. I suspect that Great Man theory tells us more about the way that we think about history than it does about history itself.

'I don't like Wes Anderson' means to me that the stylistic choices made in the movies I've seen by him seem to me to represent an overall sensibility and that jars in some way with what I like about films. Obviously a lot of this is the fact that the different hands on the picture leave consistent marks, ie Coen

I only know the boredom theme from secondary materials. The novel's been sitting here looking at me since it came out. The fact that the one of its themes is boredom has not helped its case, I admit.
