Dumbing it down:  Harmon had to fight like a demon (or a dragon, I guess) to get them to let him do Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.  There's no way that episode happened without him.  The suits at the network hated the concept, and did their best Homer Simpson imitation of "NERD!!!" when he was fighting for it.
