I agree—the functional changes since then have been improvements, but I miss that aesthetic.

…and then, you know, a question mark.

The whole reason that editors have staffs is so they don't have to be up to speed on small shit like that. They should be able to trust that the professionalism of the people working for them extends at least as far as the ability and willingness to know these things.

Fuck, this is gonna become a meme, isn't it? sigh.

I wish I could say this post didn't make me laugh.

Holy shit, the orange site was FOREVER ago. this whole thing is making me realize more than I had when a long-running and significant (on my end, of course) relationship I have with the AVC.

what he* did

By which I don't mean that we did was at all okay, r that he shouldn't be fired. It just strikes me as doubly sad that not only did this happen, it happened with a guy who, whatever else he apparently was, has been a terrific critic and made excellent contributions to this site.

This is terrible.
I'm a little disappointed with myself for being so affected by this, but as I sycophantically expressed in Metal Box just yesterday, I really was a huge Leonard Pierce fan. The AV Club is an extremely high quality publication and it will remain so, but LP's absence will be a genuine loss.

Jesus, I was SO excited for those. Can those of us who were about to become regulars on those start a weekly thread somewhere else? I'm actually kind of serious.

You've definitely hit on something there, Dick. While i wouldn't go so far as to say metal vocals are irrelevant, I've definitely perceived a correlation between metal fandom and a certain way way of appreciating music: one that places a lesser emphasis on vocals (to an extent) and lyrics (to a HUGE extent) compared

It goes without saying that the UMD has built up enough cred for a Get Out Of Being Shanked Free card, but I can't get over Nightmares Made Flesh.

For those who dig nerd-metal, it rarely if ever gets better than Nightfall in Middel-Earth.

Leonard is a documented power metal non-fan. But yeah, BG's great.

Oh, good. I'll co-sign that shanking.

Wait, I'm confused. Is there a problem with Bloodbath? Does anybody not love Bloodbath? This would be news.

Speaking the word "own" and of being drunk, why the hell isn't ZMF a Metal Box regular?

"Sweom" should be "awesome". It's possible I'm drunk.

HOW THE HELL DID I FRGET THE SWEOM SHOW FROM JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO
