I think that the US just needs to shit or get off the pot when it comes to the panel show. Stuff like Celebrity Name Game and Hollywood Game Night kinda tease at it, but still botch it by spending way too much time on boring members of the public winning money.

I think it'd be more interesting if she were someone he'd dated before becoming a recluse and the comedy stemmed from him trying to conceal eleven years worth of built-up eccentricity and piles of newspapers and jars of urine.

He tried to get one in syndication, but negotiations fell through.

Wait, she hasn't yet?

Yeah, the scenes at the bar can be pretty weak in terms of comedy, but they're pretty good at coming up with that lived in, grounded, old-boot kind of feel that the show has. I think it's kind of the ultimate hang-out show, in that respect.

I'm ambivalent. Ben isn't great in the Dr. Katz Live shows, from all accounts. I've only heard the one that got released last year, but there he's really out of character and there's really only a couple minutes of quality Ben/Katz material (A riff about gimmicky names for wine stores).

Well, you can get it from the Katz/Stanley/Julie and Ben/Todd, but those segments are much rarer.

You've seen Bamford's appearance on the first live show, right? It's amazing.

Did they make a big deal out of his MS? They did in the original version of that show, and it was just super jarring.

I only recently realized that my hatred of jokes that are factually incorrect stems from hearing his bit about diabetic candy when I was a wee, impressionable thing.

He's been pretty tangential in the Dr. Katz Live live shows, since they jettisoned the element of having an overarching plot in favor of having more couch time. So I wouldn't be surprised if he were cut entirely at this point.

This is actually the third live show.

It's pretty clear he's agoraphobic and just processing it in a weird way.

"Lavell Crawford, the diabetic actor who played
Odenkirk's sidekick Huell on Breaking Bad, told reporters that Odenkirk
had hidden his insulin and stabbed him repeatedly with empty syringes
during the filming of season four. Odenkirk reportedly shouted "Type
Two? Fuck you!" while doing so and regarded it as a harmless

People have tried to do shit like this before. IIRC Microsoft was pretty big on it.

According to the book, psychopaths are actually around three times more common in the boardroom than in the general population!

It was a bit different from that, and they took pains when talking with Ronson to emphasize the difference between psychopaths and the kind of mental illness Tony faked.

Judging by how closed-minded, dumb, and political the academy are? I think that people were impressed and offended in equal parts. For every person who was impressed by the feat, how many would think of it as gimmicky, or show-boating?

Paradox games are pitched at a hyper-specific audience and are almost always more fun to read about than play. Which is too bad, because apparently once they click, they're super fun.

Get a couple more drinks in me and it's whatever you want it to be.
