And I had that my record store won't let me reserve an item and then pick it up a few days later when the crowds are gone.  They'd be getting my money and moving stock one way or another.  And since I was standing in the store months before RSD asking in person for them to hold it the item suggests that I don't need

The guy on lead guitar is Dave Rosser, from the Twilight Singers; he played with the Whigs on their reunion and seems to be Dulli's guitar-of-choice these days.  I haven't seen anything about why Rick McCollum wasn't there.

@avclub-7b1c718f91de50d902e00762ad5cac28:disqus I actually prefer his work with Creature With The Atom Brain if I'm looking for that kind of vibe, but I might just be more familiar with CwtAB than I am QotSA.

What @avclub-7dc8b441cf4e6fe9bc806679c4579e68:disqus said.  After years of listening to the Gutter Twins (coming to it as a longtime Greg Dulli fan) I only recently starting listening to Lanegan's other work.  Good grief, the man has done so much great stuff!  Every project and every random guest appearance is worth

There once was a bank clerk named Fennis
Who wished to foster an aura of menace.
To make people afraid
He wore gloves of gray suede
And white foot gear intended for tennis.

Like @avclub-8dd007f4a97be79c135c67999bf5b27e:disqus , I'm an Aurifil girl.  The thread is luxurious, strong, and doesn't tangle or fray.  They also have an enormous color range.  I usually use 50 wt, but I tried Aurifil's 60 wt once and it was like sewing with air it was so soft and light (but also strong).  I don't

@avclub-230e46d19fe78a6c8dc715659a7188d7:disqus Best use of student loan dollars ever!  The Airplane! joke that I only recently (within the last two years) really truly appreciated for how funny it is, is the "I'll take Ham on white, and hold the Mayo".  Now it's like my brain is trying to make up for the last 20

Holy shit, you're right, @avclub-4135e89c3138834f30906c929a4f95c9:disqus !  I knew there was something fishy about that tagline…

I feel so much better to know I'm not alone!  In fact, what I'm beginning to think is that perhaps the people behind the ads are the dumb ones for making such an obtuse tagline.  Yeah, that's the ticket!  It's not us, it's them!

The Jared commercials are bad, but I find the Kay ones to be worse because I've been seeing them for years but only realized embarrassingly recently that "Every kiss begins with Kay" is a play on words.  I always just assumed they meant "start and end your jewelry shopping with Kay".  I'm so glad no one else was in

Greg Dulli really knows how to end an album between Gentlemen and Black Love's "Summer's Kiss"/"Faded" combo.

"War on Wisdom" and "We Are Doomed" is a pretty killer opening, too.

@avclub-230e46d19fe78a6c8dc715659a7188d7:disqus "Elvis Presley in America" is one of my all-time favorite U2 songs, so you're not alone!

Well, I thought it was hilarious at the time and it only gets funnier to me in hindsight, so like away!  (I apparently have no self-respect.)

Tough crowd!  Admitting to making a fool of oneself in front of Susan from Sesame Street doesn't get a like?!  (She was very nice about it.)

I had the opportunity to meet Susan from Sesame Street a few years ago.  She was working with my boss on something, so she was hanging around my place of work.  I spent all morning psyching myself up to meet her, trying to come up with the perfect thing to say to thank her for having such a profound influence on my

The other adult show that has a tiny bit of this same stillness and peace is the nature segment on CBS Sunday Morning.  I interned there when I was a cynical, horrible college student; one of my jobs was answering the mail.  Every day I'd get letters from what I assumed were lonely, sad old people writing handwritten

One of my fellow music enthusiasts at work asked me what my favorite album of 2012 was and I had to say, "Well, it was just one song, but La Chanson de Jacky."  He was all, "No, what was your favorite album?"  And I was all, "Seriously, you don't need a full album when you have this version of Jacky.  Trust me!"

Peeping Tom was totally worth it for this live cover of "Desperate Situation" —  I dare say it's my all-time favorite video on YouTube:

I adore Lovage!  It's driving me nuts that Dan the Automator and Kid Koala keep saying a second album's-worth of music is recorded and just waiting on vocals.  Sometimes being a fan of a workholic with a really short attention span is killer.  Get on it, Patton!  And while you're on it, finish up that second Mondo
